Another sunny, dry day here. Weeding this morning; then started the mower. this was a surprise as its been sat in the garage since last June, but fill tank, check oil pull cord and it started without a cough or any smoke. So this afternoon cut some of the grass and weeds under the trees and then cut some of the grass at the back so I can reach the shed and the greenhouse without tripping over the tussocks.
Would like to put in a good word for some ground cover plants: firstly a couple of rubus, Rubus rolfei "Taroko Loco", Rubus "Betty Ashburner" (cross between R rolfei and R tricolour) and R ichangensis these are growing quite rapidly after being planted last year; then slightly slower Euonymus fortunei minimus.

Bit of pruning on a cherry plum (whose now leaved branches are flopping onto my shed roof and the area where the summer polygreenhouse will be), sowed some annuals (Cosmos, Rudbeckia and Stocks), strimmer-edged the lawn, fed and watered the pots, made a start on organising the shed and some general pottering. So much more to do. If it’s dry tomorrow I need to re-do my sweet-pea cane support trellis as it’s currently horizontal.

I've followed written instruction on all kind of things and they make the obvious seem difficult.

Weeding. A lot of weeding and I ache a lot now! Also discovered the lemon verbena has croaked which I'm a tad peeved over.
Need to sort the mint in to new pots tomorrow

I gave our lawn a cut yesterday, first this year, so long and damp, just what the ants love … flattened ant hills all over it now.
Prepared a garden planter today for sowing carrot tomorrow … always satisfying to get the carrot started in the garden veg area … I can almost taste those fresh young carrots already ;)

Slug hunt in the plastic grow house this evening netted eleven, some tiny ones the size of my little fingernail. Bet they'd eat twice their weight in nice new leaves if I gave them the chance...

Always the problem at this time of year, isn't it @Liriodendron ? I have no desire to go out at night and hunt slugs - don't want the RSPCA knocking on my door either....:heehee:
There's enough of the little bleepers during the day because it's been so mild.

Nothing done yesterday as we had gale force winds and heavy showers. Does running to the shed count? I eventually found a plant I'd put outside to acclimatise...but couldn't find on Friday night. Sigh...
I found it yesterday, and fortunately it was fine.
Hopefully get something done today as the weather is to be more friendly. I have some pots to get holes drilled in them, and a few bits and pieces.

Isn't Sunday the day of rest @Fat Controller ? ;)
Be kind to yourself today. :)

Well, as my neighbours decided to have a barney at 3am.... then Mrs C (currently asleep on the sofa) decided it was wise to stay up when she got up to go to the loo at 5am which then led to the dogs bouncing off my head to get me up, I am off to a bad start. Me, and my foul mood, are about to head out to the greenhouse.

It was hot in Dordogne yesterday, 27C. 26C forecast for today. I dealt with the potato patch, weeded, dug, composted, planted. The soil was heavy after all the rain this winter. I was glad of some afternoon shade from the bay tree.

I'm planning on planting some flowers in my new bed, perennials that I bought recently.
