Very nice and look forward to seeing it in bloom. Lovely view too.

I have Ben the Gardener coming this afternoon to do heavy work ... relieve Myoporo tree of its dead branches, cut Poincettia tree down to one meter from 3/4 meters (done every year), take a dead section out of Viburnum (about 4/5 meters tall), tidy up BoPs, de-weed border on lane and wall planters, and some other bits and pieces. I will sit in the shade and supervise! ;) Must type out list now.

These are the wall planters (which have Bilbergia nutens (Queen's Tears) and self-seeded Freesias in all three) and border on lane ...

feeling a bit better after a good sleep-thanks everyone for the sympathy and listening to me moaning :rolleyespink:

@fairygirl I have no idea how you cope with constant back pain…must be horrendous x

Thank you Snorky. I would like to have some more rain, going to 27C again today. You say you are renting your Lincs house out, are you still in Lincs now? Your seating area is very neat and inviting.

Probably no gardening for me today. I need to do some work and the forecast looks very mixed. I did quite a lot in the garden over the weekend and finally feel that I am catching up with the seasons. O also managed to give myself an injury, pushing some woody trimmings into one of our woody wildlife piles behind some shrubs, one of the branches sprang back and whacked me one. I’ve a lovely fat lip and it was on,y a whippet bit of Caryopteris :dunno:

Oh dear, I hope your lip will recover soon, it must have been a painful thing to experience.

Yesterday I planted my seed potatoes in big pots, and I tidied up a Holly bush on a trellis.
Nothing today, it's too cold and blustery :frown:

I could def do with a bit of 27C!! I’m going to be renting out Lincoln bungalow (it was an air bnb but its a lot of hassle). I bought a house 15mins walk from my mum in cleethorpes, so I live there. It’s not anywhere as nice as my place in Lincoln, but it’s in the right location and I have renovated it and doing the new garden. Mum needs the support with my gran so I need to be here for a few years. Will move back to Lincoln eventually but this means I have a new garden to play with

Well the downpours and wind are scouring the pollen of the car at least! Should be bedding all the tidied areas and plants in nicely too :blue thumb:

What to international rugby players and gardeners have in common?…

When Monday morning comes round they are aching, have grubby fingernails and various minor injuries.

Just neck and knee ache for me today. We should start a gardening-related injuries thread!

Mandevillas do not shoot from the tubers so a box of them gets tossed. They are in Pots on Pedestals ...

Not 27C today! 13C at the moment. I'm a bit achey after the weekend's gardening so I think I'll give it a miss today.

Hard luck on the fat lip, @Butterfly6 . The garden bites back! And sympathy to @Snorky85 and to @fairygirl for back problems. I'm getting to the stage when I need something to help me up when I've been kneeling weeding and it's an unpleasant reminder that the years are passing by...
The forecast for this week seems to be "mainly dry" rather than "always wet", which makes a nice change. Might get some sugar peas sown in a bit. Proper gardening, instead of titivating seedlings and going on slug patrol.

I've just battled my way down the garden in the wind, to shut the lids of the cold frames, in case they get blown backwards like last time.
Then I battled my way back to the house. Not going outside again today !

Been in the GH and pricked some seedling out , thrown out a few more plants while I was in there , at least I weren't getting drenched and buffeted around being outside in the wind and rain.

Got a picture of yesterday graft the stone on top are a bit hit and miss ran out of stone again I'll probably re do that bit , its much better getting in and out of the GH now . Going to fill in the little bed to the right with soil , fancy a prostrate rosemary but I may use it as like a seasonal pot , I can sit a little pot to the far right so may do that and get everything I want  . Got a problem with a pooling thought I solved it but no .

I haven’t done anything in the garden today. I’ve been trying not to look outside actually for fear of witnessing damage from wind, rain and hail! Instead I went for an afternoon walk and got battered by wind, rain and hail :gaah:.

From now on, any new plant acquisitions must not only be drought tolerant, like cycles of wet and cold but should also enjoy being battered by wind, ideally coping with all these conditions on the same day:).
