I took off 2 side shoots from the blackberry and removed 2 other that came out of the ground a meter from the main plant. I also tightened the 2 new shoots that are for next year.
I potted the Green Mist and sow Sainfoil and again the white Phlox, which is a second attempt after the first one failed.
My neighbour told me that she saw Great Tits working in my tit box.
A good afternoon after a stressful day at work.

My delivery of Heleniums ordered on Tuesday arrived this morning while I was out. Great, the driver left the box outside the garage as requested but, despite the large arrows on every side of the box indicating the way to store it, it was left on its side:wallbanging:. This is probably how it had been since collection as several of the plants were dislodged from their pots along with some compost. I did a repotting exercise, gave the plants some water, placed them in a sheltered spot outside and within a couple of hours they looked reasonable. I was planning to plant them today but frost is forecast and I thought they had had enough stress already! I put them in the garage later to overnight.

I then moved a few Hakonechloa around to replace some other perennials that looked dead and mowed both lawns. The main lawn needed more work on the moss which I treated a couple of weeks ago so I got to work with a spring tine rake. It didn’t take long to start thinking that I should have left the moss as it was, at least it was green! I’m just going to let the grass fight it out now as I’ve had enough.:phew:

Oh sorry it's not my pic, several seed companies use the pic to sell the seeds.

I had taken off the cloches from the Catmint yesterday. I was just for a moment in the garden, and heard one of the cats hanging around. Dare you, don't try it.

Currently we have been concentrating on weeding and edging. Mrs Shiney has been doing most of the weeding and doing an excellent job. We tend to measure our weeding by how many wheelie bins we fill and she is just about to start on the fourth one this week. :phew:

The new lawn edges are coming along slowly as I'm having trouble with my elbow at the moment. I didn't realise how much effort is used by elbows :heehee:

Mrs Shiney does most of the seed sowing so I don't know how much has been done. There are loads of tomatoes that need potting on, sweetpeas need to go out. peas in large patio tubs are getting on well. I've sowed the first tranche of runner beans on Tuesday and shall sow more each Tuesday.

The propagators are getting full (one is 3ft x 5ft and the other is 3ft x 2ft) but I need to make a new plastic cover for them as the old plastic is falling apart. They are almost full with trays of plants that I haven't the faintest what she has sown as I don't bother to look. :rolleyespink:

I'm now mowing twice a week as I can't do it all in one go or my back protests too much.

I've not sown lots of stuff yet, as I've been amending the pond on any good days. Might get some of that done today though.
The new hedging [grown from cuttings] will need a trim, and the grass is needing a wee trim.
Other than that - I'll be tootling around and planning - need a new shed, so I've been debating how/where etc. That's for later on in the year though.
My toms are still tiny, but they might be ready to prick out - if I'm careful.
Take it easy with those elbows @shiney - you never know who you might need to shift out the way at some point ;)

Yesterday was a non day, spent collecting a prescription and sorting out car servicing etc. A very chilly wind and overcast so no out doors.
I am hoping to finish prepping the greenhouse today. After putting out the washing, walking the dog etc. etc.

Really chilly out there in the wind, but have managed to pot on my Corydalis Elata, a Campanula that gets eaten if in the ground, and two hellebore seedlings. Now am indoors, thawing out.

Did a feed on my four potted Brugmansias on the raised Patio with a milk fertilizer, but not ''Charles Grimaldii' in the ground. Also my two Hibiscus syriacus in pots and the Hibiscus rosa-sinensis in pots (12 I think), one Hibiscus Mutabilis, four Mandevillas, one Calliandra surinamensis and one Abutilon with Epsom Salts. Probably should do the six Hibscus rosa-sinensis in the ground too. That should take care of the Spring feed ... I have never done feeds before!

I thought it was time to sow the melon seed, hadn't notice but one packet that was £3.99 said it only contained 4 seeds, WRONG, there was only 3.:frown:

I've not heard of a milk fertiliser before @Victoria and am intrigued to know more :). What is it and how do you use it?

Hmm, that's annoying. 25% missing. Let's hope the other 3 germinate and grow bigger than normal to compensate. :)
