Nothing as such. I picked up a few bags of MPC and have come back to find Mrs L keen to weed the strawberry patch!
This is a patch that I haven't even slightly maintained and it's a mess; frankly I'm all for getting rid but not allowed. As we have to keep it I'm going to figure out how best to rejig it then take out the strawbs and kill the jungle if weeds that's left behind and start over

I went to the GC and bought some little Alpines - sedum, lewisia. achillea. rhodanthemum and a sempervivum as if I don't already have plenty, especially with the two lovely Gold Nugget rosettes another kind Gardeners' Corner member sent me. I have a herb/ strawberry pot (the kind with holes in the side) which is currently full of crocuses and other bulbs. Once the foliage has died down I am going to plant it with Alpines.

I kept forgetting to ask you @Liriodendron - did you see last week's episode of Landward? It was from Lismore.
I did a lot of seed sowing yesterday, and potted on various bits and pieces, planted a couple of thigns and then distributed the rest of the spoil I dug out from below the pond liner at the base of some hedging, mixed with a little BF&Bone. Glad to get that last job done!
Might get some flatter stones mortared in at the pond edges tomorrow if the weather plays ball. A couple of plants to get in too, so fingers crossed that it's reasonably dry.
Leaf mould is something I miss having in this garden @Butterfly6 . I always had loads in a previous garden, but no suitable trees in this one.

Accidentally purchased another little osteospermum (15% of everything in Homebase :blue thumb:), so potted that on. Then it started to rain, so sheltered in the garage washing a few pots.

Some tall blades of grass spoiled the look of my carpets of moss so got cut. It's nearly May and this was the second cut in the back and first one in front and side. What a weather we have had!

Anyways, things are perking up and the Pigeons are making total fools of themselves with their courting. Honestly, push your neck down, lift your bum straight up and run around the female making sad noises...? :heehee:

This is the slightly more dignified female waiting for the sparrows to feed it.

Exactly my situation. Have done one wave-over with the strimmer so far.

The pigeons here are shameless. :gaah:

The pigeons here seem clueless and one particularly stupid pair make their nest in the wisteria our huntress cat uses to climb onto the annex roof..... Never seen them fledging babies to bring to the feeders. The collared doves are a lot cleverer and have gone from 2 to over a dozen visiting at once.

OH has started strmming but today's job was raking the soil he rotavated last week so I can sow grass seed tomorrow while he plays golf.

I have spent a couple of hours pricking out teeny garlic kale seedlings and then Swiss chard 'Pink flamingo'. The Little Gems will just have to wait till tomorrow. I've had to move an old table out of the ruin and into the PT to take all the trays of seedlings.

Very ruthless and planted out the lavateras, the sunflowers, and the gaura in the garden as dull days and rain are forecast. Have been hardening off for over a week. All the bedders like diascia, bacopa scaevolas and trailing pelagoniums in their pots have been outside in wind and rain for a week now. Am taking my cue from nature, although low temperatures, bluebells have been out for at least two weeks so earlier than normal. One of the dahlias and the begonias have gone out too even though it's far too early but I do live in Cornwall!

We have one of those. I can't kneel on it but use it the other way up to sit on. Then I can get to fill our small pots, for seed sowing, without having to bend down to get the potting compost. Mrs Shiney normally does the sowing/potting but I do the runner and French beans. I do those in batches a week or so apart and have done 400 so far. :phew:

This time of year I also spend about three hours a week mowing. Yesterday I also made some climbing frames, using bamboo canes, for the sweetpeas as the boss wants to plant them out tomorrow.

I also picked the last batch of the Spring rhubarb (only eight pounds) and shall let the rhubarb patch recover so it can build up the next crop in the summer.
