All I did in the garden today was take photos and water plants and seedlings and seeds. We desperately need rain here in north Kent. We haven't had a decent rainfall for ages, it seems. Much of the garden is bone dry.

Just about managed to pot on some tomatoes and then felt so weak I had to go in and lie down. We're both suffering and can't quite remember a virus having had such a debilitating effect on us before. It isn't Covid (we've tested) but it seems to be worse than when we had that last year. Normal service will be resumed soon.

So sorry to hear you feeling so poorly, @LunarSea . I think there is a really nasty flu-type bug doing a second round these last few weeks, after a first round at New year. That’s certainly what we have experienced. Hubby never gets bugs, or takes to his bed. He has done so around New Year, and again a couple of weeks ago…

Be kind to yourself, and when you start to improve, take it easy!

Thrilled to wake up to rain this morning :hapfeet:
Everything, including my water butt, was bone dry and I was fearing for recently planted shrubs and perennials. It will be lovely to see everything green up now, tap water just doesn't have that same effect I find.

Over the weekend I have finally got around to planting up my mini pond, which has been in situ as nothing more than a sunken bowl of water for too many years. It now has miniature bulrush, water mint and something else I've forgotten the name of in it. I do still need to add something oxygenating, so will do that this week.

                  Doing a rain dance :love30:

Well, I would be if I didn’t have work to do. Rain forecast for most of the day but no sign so far….

Is the BBC weather app on the blink again? These wind speeds later today don't look likely. If it is correct, I am going to have to consider taking evasive action on behalf of my pot plants.

@ViewAhead I've got 20 mph plus winds forecast for about then, with similar figures on XCWeather as well. So you could have to dodge flying pot plants tonight.

According to the BBC weather app we’re supposed to have rain now. We don’t. But we did have some overnight which was very welcome.

I'm having a day off gardening and am going to start up a couple of gallons parsnip wine.
My nextdoor neighbour said he wanted to get a fence put up between my property and his to keep his dog in. I said fine and late afternoon two chaps turned up and asked if they could access the fence from my side, no problem. Turned out the fence was going to be 8ft high so the wooden posts would be about 12 ft long and go down two to three ft; fine said I, you know it's raining tomorrow; yes they said, but we'll get five posts in tonight and finish off tomorrow.
So far one post in, a number of posts resting against my garage and no sign of anybody today.
That strip of land I've just left alone for decades as there are 4 or 5 American Oaks a couple of Leylandii and a couple of hawthorns. Plus a stack of branches that have fallen off trees over the years. So the ground is rammed with roots and there are a lot of rocks in the ground as well.
That is why I left it alone in the first place.

An 8ft high fence sounds a bit excessive @NigelJ. How big is the dog ? :thud: .
