WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2021

Nothing again today it's raining again, thinking about sowing the chilli seeds, might save and sow some seeds from the red peppers that i bought.

 

Thanks for the information @shiney. I'm not a lover of French beans so I think I'll stick to normal runners. As you can guess heat isn't going to be a problem here although we do get weeks of drought. I'll try Polestar this year.

 

Still can't get out to play in the garden, more snow last night....

I've only vacuumed up all the fallen leaves from my son's fern. Harry is a messy plant!

Got other things to do today, but got to empty one of the compost bins but got to make sure that my back is up to it. Got to do a lot of bending, it's one of those darlek bins with a door down the bottom. I've got three of them and i did one at the end of last year.

Not far enough! The left hand house creates light pollution at night, it's almost as if they have floodlights indoors, and every light is on.

 

Very cold here today, everywhere is wet and soggy. Stopped raining for a while. Cleared my study of recently delivered large pots and boxes of bulbs. Stacked most of the pots, 15Ltr ones, close to the MPC stack. Much easier to fill pots/containers here plant the bulbs and then take them to the GH. Placed some printed labels into tubs of roses. Thankfully, most if not all roses are showing lots of buds. Just hope the frosts don't destroy them.

Have noticed that several of my climbing roses that have gone beserk, due to my lack of care. These are now throwing out several new side shoots, so all is not lost.

I am wondering how the farmers are going to do. The ground is so waterlogged. Perhaps a good idea to plant some veg in containers just in case there is a shortage.

 

Up to the greenhouse later to sow seeds that don't require heat, some will go outside to get a bit colder. Also prepare pots of compost for sowing chilli seeds and other stuff. Clean up and check that the heated tray and lights are working in the garage.

 

Our friend at Mantel Farm, Jason has a large Peacock, gave us one of his Peacock eggs, it was huge and I gave it to my daughter who lived within shouting distance as I found I could not face cracking it....
