Had a delicious lunch in the garden when I spotted a pesky bindweed. No sooner had I pulled the bugger out when I spotted another, then another… and a host of other unwanted specimens. Pulling up one turned into a three hour sun drenched weed control escapade. The large garden bin and two huge gardening sacks are stuff full (again). That's my weeding done… until next week.

 

@DevonPhil Pulling bindweed is like cherry picking, once you start is hard to stop! Then, bindweed is hard to stop too, so, it is a never ending war

 

What's a woodchuck?

 

It can be conquered by stuffing lots of stems and foliage in half-buried jam jars half-filled with glyphosate. Takes a while, but it's discreet and effective.

 

Woodchuck is also known as a Groundhog.

Hopefully now the sun is back out I will carry on with the deadheading. Rain is forecast for this afternoon, but what does that ever tell us?

 

Think I need to do some "Chelsea chopping" The garden has gone MENTAL!

Shame the iris sibericas have all finished-they dont seem to last long. Need to cut all the finished stems back now....got LOADS to do.

 

I've been in the garden after rain doing a Stamping Snail Dance

 

As much as snails drive me mad I just cant do that.....they get a flight out of my garden onto their holidays instead

That's what I've been doing too...it's gone bananas out here!! I'm even giving the Lavenders the chop too, I did it last year and they were much better behaved.

 

Well I've been up to my lotty and planted out red drumhead cabbages, a few nasturtiums and spent time sorting out a nettering cover to stop the butterflies. Can't believe the time-the day is going too quickly.


I'll be out chelsea chopping this afternoon if the rain stays away. It's so humid here!

 

Mostly watering and supping tea. Came across this Convolvulus Blue Ensign in the front garden. Grown from seed this year - this is the first to flower to open. Saw them at Tatton Park last year and fancied a go at growing them here - well chuffed
