@Upsydaisy warms my old heart to read other people tinker with solar lights, now if your hubby can doctor them then he probably throw together a little DC to DC converter like I did, the globes run off 12VDC but some of the colour changing need that dropping to 4.5VDC and standard solar lights use 1.2VDC so you can have one 12V supply feeding as many assorted lights as you wish, its something to pass the time during the dark nights. You can pick up ready made converters up from fleabay or make your own

@Loofah what is a mud kitchen?

I pulled more of the annual plants that were starting to look straggly. Did that whilst still in my jammies because today is brown paper (yard waste) day and I wanted to get them pulled, packed and stacked at the road.

Was digging up the roots of some of the weed plants. They're like large sapling roots so a bit of a workout.

Yes my hubs is always tinkering!! He's a man of many talents @Plantpot .He's researches everything and can usually turn his hand into fixing, adapting or making things from scratch. He drew up the plans for our massive house renovations and virtually rebuilt the whole lot during weekends and evenings with one builder friend , he planned all the rewiring of old and new part of the house too. I'm very fortunate to have a man than 'can'. :dbgrtmb:.

Potting up some Spring pots with bulbs and Wallflowers. Emptying out some more to find that the bulbs in them had certainly done some multiplying !!!! :yikes:
Cut back all the Giant Lillies and stowed them away in a cosy corner in readiness for Winter.
Deadheaded all the Dahlias and Pelargoniums.
Cut back the Oenothera after harvesting some of the seeds for sowing next year.
Potted on some Sweet William seedlings.

@Upsydaisy I ripped out to the brick and rebuilt our house, it needed rewiring so did everything while the tools where out, took just over half a year and five years to recover. :)

I can well imagine it did @Plantpot !! It took us longer to do ours. We knocked well over half down then tripled the size of it , we changed the complete layout of the house , what was the front of the house is now the east patio and what was the back of the house is now the front, sounds more complicated than it is.:heehee:

@Upsydaisy that's a little bit more work than I did, but you got what you both wanted despite the time and mess, mind you one of my friends has a 'reverse the house' plan but I am playing the age card on this one, done enough building work to last a life time

Yes I can fully understand, hubs could never watch any house makeover programmes afterwards and still can't, mind you nor can I either! :nonofinger: It was a very taxing time indeed with our own 3 small children and running my own business from home....every step of the way had to be checked out by health and safety to ensure that the families that registered with me were not in danger. Looking back you wonder how on earth you managed it!!:heehee:

@Upsydaisy we never watch those house makeover shows, we had our own going on, besides on TV you never see the fleet of trucks and workshops that are off camera, its all slapdash and horrible wallpaper :), every time I hear about wallpaper it reminds me of my parents decor plan in the 60's, dad removed a coal fire and left the wall as bare clean brick, mum hated it so it dad plastered it flat, after many arguments that is. Then she got fed up looking at plaster so when the wall could be decorated she dragged dad out to buy wallpaper and came back with brick effect paper :roflol:

I asked the same question but in a slightly different manner... It's a play kitchen but you use it outside so the marketeers have labelled the mud kitchen and made a mint. I built one from scrap and a pallet :) kids love it so all good

I cheat. I have someone with a powerful strimmer cut mine down and then collect it all in piles and dump it just over the fence to, ostensibly, flatten down all the nettles etc. where the farmer doesn't plough his field. The whole length of the fence has 2ft deep rotting grass smothering the weeds.

                          Today I dun nuffin'.

What we used to call playing mud pies, getting mucky and having real fun without the fear of being dragged off and sterilised clean in a bath because, you know, muck and mess, two words that send shivers down the backs of some parents these days.

Weeded around the new pond, I hadn't noticed just how weed infested it was! Also split some painted ferns to beef up the edging of the pond.

Got the roof on the storage area, finished building the mud kitchen and had a huge bonfire of garden waste and the old greenhouse roof :)
