    Oh, @Snorky85 a monkey puzzle tree. How lovely!

    I just went out to store a few things in one of the little greenhouses and noticed footprints in the snow down from the drive to the back deck. Big prints coming in and going back out..:phew:

    Checked my cctv and a hulking big man came in the back yard at 10 p.m. and left an hour later. Hopefully they just wanted to get out of the wind for a little while and sat in the greenhouse that has the heater. Don't recognize the fellow at all but he didn't look mean.

    I sorted some of my seed starting supplies which are down in the cellar.

      :yikes: A bit worrying Lori!!! Wouldn't like that at all! Is there direct access to your back garden. Our garden is all open access as it's a wrap around garden but they would have to open the gate to get in. Have to say that on a very dark night without hubs I would feel a bit spooked in I had to go right down to our waste bins at night.....not that anything has ever happened, but without streetlamps ........

        As the weather here in the West Country was lovely this morning 12 c and sunny (now pouring it down) I’ve continued general weeding. Now I’ve started there’s no stopping me, unless it’s for a cup of coffee and a piece of bread pudding. :)
        I started with the flower bed in the back garden. Removed all the old bedding and planted some Lilly of the valley. (They were salvaged from the bottom of next doors gardening, with permission)

        Weeded most of the pots and hanging baskets, tidied up the Japanese anemone. It’s amazing how many plants are starting to come back once you clear the weeds.
        Also cleared leaves and blanket weed from a butlers sink I’m using as a small wild life pond.

        All the while being followed by my mate the Robin obviously keen on a free meal.

          Thought I'd hoover out the pond today - the cold weather making the water clear and all the debris settles on this bottom.

          This is the sequence of events:

          1 - got out pond vacuum and assembled.
          2 - placed vacuum on patio step - it fell over and cracked two of the extension pipes - hey ho I thought;
          3 - placed vaccum next to the pond and switch on - its blowing and not sucking in the water - scratched head - and then after 10 minutes changed the hose to the correct inlet.
          4 - started to vaccum the pond - we're cooking on gas here.
          5 - vacuum fell over again - and stopped working.
          6 - never mind, I thought, I'll use the water butt pump to remove the dirty water;
          7 - got out water butt pump - the water direction flow switch broke off in my hand - so it was stuck closed.
          8 - oh well, I thought, I've got a spare hose attachment in the workshop - which was duly fitted.
          9 - as the murky water was pumping out - Freddy the Frog jumps out from nowhere - and gave me a dirty look.
          10 - that's enough of the pond cleaning I thought.
          11 - looked at the garden clock - it had stopped - so replaced the battery;
          12 - clock doesn't work even with a new battery - so decided to throw in the towel and have a cuppa.

          All in all a right bugger of a day - I should have just stayed in and watched the TV.

              Tidied up the front beds and planted out some Primulas and Bellis. They were grown from seed last year and have been patiently waiting in their pots to be planted out into their permanent homes.:sorry:

                @Upsydaisy I have iron gates on both sides of the house but they are not padlocked at the moment. Thought about padlocking them today but then figured he didn't do any harm. :noidea:

                  It was s bit warmer this afternoon so emptied one of the compost bins with the help of a robin.

                    . That's really weird! I wouldn't like that either. Keep your cctv footage just incase anything comes of it.

                      Oh for sure @Snorky85 I downloaded it the moment I saw it.

                      If I am thinking about overeating, all I have to do is replay footage of me gardening or whatever - that's enough to stifle that. The camera adds a stone!

                      Our ground is frozen solid so no outside gardening but I did carry on with the garden theme and did spend some time tidying my water pumps, fans etc that will go back out in the spring.

                          Pottered about for half hour or so during break in weather. Too wet to do much so just moved a few plants around.
                          This is my utility room taken just now :yikes::yikes:.

                            I didn't have much spare time yesterday so just did a bit of cutting back the leaves on the Epimediums. There's still lots to go so if it doesn't rain I'll carry on today. :blue thumb: The largest plant is about 6ft diameter so the bending to do all that is not good for my back. :noidea: :old: :)
