WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2021

I should of add @DianneW about your shrub if the underside of the leaves are a cream colour its a elaeagnus

 

Hardy/half hardy annuals for this year? The seeds aren't too expensive compared to buying plants, and you get a lot in a packet. Or, if the soil needs improving, sow Phacelia tanacetifolia. Strictly speaking it's a green manure that you dig in before flowering, but it's so pretty, and a bee-magnet I'd happily send you seeds, cuttings, plants etc., but sadly no longer possible...

 

Well I've round at my mum doing her path nearly done , got two steps to make and lay two more pieces of stone . I'll see if I can get the foundations in for the steps tomorrow , don't think I'll be able to do anything outside by Saturday looking at the weather forecast .

To say I don't even like landscaping and I haven't laid Indian stone before I think it looks quite well . I need to clean it and point it when I can , I despise pointing so I am going to get that stuff you brush in and push in.

 

could be @shiney will take a close up shot tomorrow(camera is playing up and its not mine) but honestly do not think it flowers....The plant the same as we had at Pebbles Bexhill had the same s want.. to turn back to plain green leaves ..

 

Dashing in and out between the showers this afternoon I did manage to tidy up the border by the gate, being ultra careful not to damage all the bulbs that are emerging.
During one shower I sorted out the greenhouse to give me a clear space for prepping the compost
ready for sowing and potting up.

 

I went outside so so silent with the curfew then the dogs went into a frenzy at my footsteps..didn't last long though,,,Camera is really sick manage just the one that came out clear..seems to be something to do with a light issue..redness and then processing is not straight away then the photo is blurred....bugs.... best pic I can do for now....new camera due..mine stopped working after many a year about 2 years ago...Mr.W has been quiet about it so far...

I have pricked out all the chillis, sweet peppers and aubergines tonight. Got a bit cold though so I’ve had to come in.

Kind of just got used to the slugs. Admittedly not my most favourite of animals but they can't help what they are. They've actually got into the house as well. First they were in the porch, we found their way in and cemented it up. Now they have found a way to get into the hallway. No idea how. I keep finding slug trails across the rugs. The odd thing is that there doesn't appear to be trails on the tiles just the rugs. It's almost like they've been beamed onto the rugs by transporter, crawled round and round and then been beamed back out . Not sure if it's just one slug that keeps returning or more than one. I have visions of waking up in bed and finding fifty plus slugs lined up on the foot board .

 

Spent a most enjoyable hour and a half in the front garden. I had bought a tray of Tete a Tete daffs, so planted them into a sink and a lot ( wish I had bought two trays ). Got the strimmer out and cut back some of the grass. Cut down a cherry sapling that was growing in an inconvenient place. Started chopping at the overgrowth down by the soakaway with shears but abandoned that idea fairly quickly when I realized it was going to take a lot longer than I thought. Sat on bench with coffee and chocolate biscuits watching the small birds enjoying the sunflower heart feeder and the rats hoovering up the spilt seeds. There's been some interest in the bird boxes I've noticed

 

It made me shiver reading your post @luciusmaximus ...so long as they stayed at the end of the bed ...but if .....they came slithering any closer........no I must eliminate the horrid thought from my head or else I'll have nightmares tonight.
If I were you I'd have to wrap myself in copper bands!!!!
