Finished weeding, dividing, re-homing plants in the big border this afternoon.
Then had to do an emergency rescue of my Heuchera cuttings after discovering vine weevil grubs!!! :yikes: One had to be chucked all the others were given a bath and a soak and then replanted, so it's fingers crossed time once more.:fingers crossed:

I've definitely been bitten by something lol - must be the gardening bug as its too early for aphids :D

Fingers crossed for you! :fingers crossed:

Some shady plants I'd ordered arrived today (plants that like shade, that is, not disreputable ones) - a panda face ginger, two anemones, a bloodroot and a "Jurassic Gold" fern (I do hope this doesn't attract velociraptors to the garden, I have enough trouble with squirrels). All now planted up and hopefully happy.

Hope everyone else had a good day :)

        Finished the greenhouse base

        2021-03-02 14.29.22.jpg

It's been measured and checked within an inch of it's life but I'm still a bit paranoid that they'll turn up to install the greenhouse and find it doesn't fit for some reason

The step down on the left is going to be a small side terrace for the coldframe and a couple of waterbutts; it needs filling and then topping with gravel, but no rush on that as it's a few weeks before they can put the greenhouse in anyway.

          :love30::hapydancsmil::thumbsup:

I was the same, 2b, when the landscaper was building the base for the Observatory and then having to wait for the Observatory Team, from Norfolk, to build the Observatory to see if I'd calculated the dimensions right

I had a fair amount of small jobs to do in the garden, the kind of jobs that still take time and lead to other jobs having to be done:dunno::doh:
The first job was to get the large glazed pots that I'd gone to buy at the local Plant Nursery out of the Car and onto the Patio....
            upload_2021-3-2_16-40-32.png

The Blue pot cost £39 and is for the Acer "Ukigumo" which I will plant with a mixture of Compost, sand, potting grit and a handful of Blood, Fish and Bone Meal after I've decided where it will go:doh::scratch::heehee:

The larger Green Pot is the one that I'd actually bought first but then after paying for it and, on getting it to the Car, one of the Nursery Staff spotted the chip in the side.
            upload_2021-3-2_16-47-8.png
So, I decided not to take it and bought the Blue Pot instead. But, after a rethink, I decided to make an offer for the Green Pot with the idea of repairing it , and the Manager came to look at the Pot and me and must have decided we were both slightly Potty:rolleyespink::heehee: and wouldn't take the offer but gave me the Pot for free. Some Epoxy Putty and a little enamel paint should do the trick. Where's it going to go and what am I going to plant in it..........don't ask.:dunno::heehee:

                Finished the potting shed today.

These fixings are left over - the suppliers always throw in a few extra don't they?

Trained the rose around the arch and same for the wisteria. Tidied up in the greenhouse again and got it ready for me to get another panel from the Anderson shelter in there so I can paint it tomorrow and it will be warm enough to dry.

Bought a couple of plant pots today and will pot some bits up for my mums birthday.

The temperature this morning was 42f this morning and took until around 2pm to reach 48f but at least there was no breeze to make it feel colder. So I decided to plant some Leucanthemum "Banana Cream", in 3's, in the "walk around" border while trying to fit them in around the hundreds of shoots poking out of the soil. I thought I'd finished pruning all the Roses but I kept walking past Rose "Generous Gardener" and getting irked by one particular thick stem that looked messy at the top.....so the whole stem, but the last six inches, got pruned and looks far better.
While ambling around the garden I noticed one of the Bricks supporting the large pot of the Acer "Katsura" had something growing in it, but I've no idea what the plant is:scratch:

I managed to get the two really large garden sacks of green waste emptied into the Council Green Waste bin but had to press it all down to get it all in. I now have to clean the paths and start refilling the Garden Sacks again:dunno::heehee:
There's still so much to do, planting, cleaning up, and generally checking all the Pots on the Patio and then taking them to the places they will be for the year, while sorting out all the Hardy Perennials in pots still to be planted and, of course, checking for those plants in pots that didn't make it through the Winter.

I tootled around in the glasshouse but not sure that I was very productive! Took cuttings of banksia ericifolia which is nearly in flower and put them in rockwool cubes. I've failed dismally before with getting any to take... Looked around for any more broad beans - the mice stole my first batch, and I found they had hidden some of them in a protea pot and they were sprouting! So I dug them out and put them outside. Sadly no more have turned up in other pots.

I had a busy day today by my standards - I dug a bed along the back fence which turned out to be more complicated than I thought when I found and excavated a dirty great tree root. After I tried some shears that I think were older than I am and broke them (oops) I used the scientific method of attacking the bits I could get at with a set of giant secaturs and yoinking until either the root gave or I fell over. It was a long, hard battle, I think I invented a couple of entirely new swear words and the efficiency with which it was fought was probably on par with Black Adder Goes Forth, but the important thing is that I won!

By this point the sun was setting so I hurriedly planted 3 bareroot climbing roses and two perportedly hardy passifloras with the help of the dog (first time he's ever dug a hole that's been useful). I finished off by shoving in some "budget edging" - I half burried a couple of feather boards from the old fence I had lying about along the border. I'll tidy that up tomorrow when I can see. I've probably put too much in too close together but fingers crossed the bare trellis I had put up last year that's been tormenting me all winter will be less empty soon

Best wishes to everyone and their gardens :)
