-3 down here this morning which won't sound particularly cold to many of you, but it's the coldest we've had here this winter. Not much doing while everything's frozen, maybe I'll just sow some snapdragons indoors..

It got better so I had a wander around outside, broke the ice on the water butts for the birds. A lot of sad plants, anything with slightly tender foliage is now mush. The hardier ones have perked up now it's warmed up a bit.
Had a look in the greenhouses still ice on the inside of the roof glass, but the temperature at floor level was 3.5°C in the bigger greenhouse. Good news was that all the plants look ok apart from a couple that needed water.
Went up to the top and carried on with the raised bed extension.

Not much today, but after coming back from running the sound-desk for the church’s on-line service, I cleared some of the ivy cuttings I pulled up last October, and left in a pile for the local “creepy-crawlies” to vacate. Tomorrow should be dry, if cold, so I plan to mow/shred the clippings.
The path back-side of the house looks good now. We have new neighbours renovating the property, so it’s good that it looks tidy, even if it has been the neglected area of the garden for many years. Now that the horrible conifer hedge has been removed on their side, we have much more light. I plan to move some plantlets of white campanula there, and also to sow some aquilegia and foxgloves, to create a sort of dell effect....

Its been raining today and melted most of the snow :) should be all gone by tomorrow. I've been in the GH and cut back the fuchsias and bashed them around to remove the leaves , brushed all the staging down shelfs and trays, pulled out all my pots to give the GH a good clean up . I've set my little grow light up in the house for my little begonia seedling .

Been checking up on the potted palms etc after the freeze up. Were looking ropey but better now the thaw has set in . Hopefully no spear pulls in Spring. :please:

Only been making sure the soil blocks keep wet. This is indoors as it would be too expensive to heat the greenhouse up from the outdoor temperature of 18f.

Spurred on by my home made back garden arch gates - I'm building a full height gate for the front garden arch. The frame has been made and hung - and I installed the latch today. I'm going to install a letter box so that I can bolt the gate at night. Bolts being collected from Toolstation tomorrow on the way back from shopping. Pic's to follow once the gate is complete.

Finished off cutting the old leaves on the hellebores in the front garden and sprinkled a lot of wood ash in the back garden, it wasn't very windy so it was fine to do it without getting covered in it myself.
