A bit of pruning and dead heading, then planting annuals.

I finally finished the last of the raised patio beds yesterday and moved on to ( and will continue today) going round the garden with the remaining plants and filling in any vacant spaces with them.

My favourite summer task is now back on my daily ' to do' list...deadheading!!:hapydancsmil:

Picked the first of the Blueberries yesterday and had them with yoghurt...yummy.:)

I built a bamboo A frame for the climbing french beans, then planted them all out and tied them to their canes.

Bought and planted 2 lupins then read on the internet all the issues they can come with :rolleyespink:
Took all the shelving out of the greenhouse and cleaned and swept it all. Some mahoosif spiders in there and the odd snail hiding :yikes:
Enjoying the fresh salads and strawberries from the allotment the moment

Another mediocre day and the only work I did in the garden was to deadhead the first of the Lupins and water both of the cold frames. The rain watered the rest.

We sold some more plants and another £65 for the charity :blue thumb:

We're still filling patio pots and tying in some of the unruly and leggy plants. They only need support until they get themselves settled in so I use short canes and wool. It's our fault for not getting around to potting them before they started to get leggy and flop around.

I had a fight with two Clematis that had grown up the wire surrounding a supporting post on our summerhouse but didn't seem to want to continue along the framework I had installed for them that runs just below the roof. Once again, it is my fault for not keeping an eye on them and training them in. So they have intertwined into a solid mass of 30 - 40 stems that have got so heavy they are hanging down in and being thin stemmed are likely to break. I've tried to support them on strings. :fingers crossed:

The big job yesterday was trimming the willow. It's about 40ft high with a spread of 35ft. The new growth of leaves are touching the ground - where they haven't draped themselves over other trees, plants and one of our nursery areas. The easy way to sort it would to be to get the long hedge cutter and just whip it off all the way round but we don't like that look. So it means using the long handled loppers to cut each individual drooping branch (hundreds of them) to give the tree a natural look but drooping just above head height. About 2.5 hours later it was all done with the resulting back ache, arm ache and wobbly legs (from stretching up). At least I was able to do it in the shade

Picked the first of the blackcurrants, watered the wallflower seedlings and did a bit of the grass edging.

In between keeping a beady eye on hubs up on the ladder I've managed to do a fair amount this morning.
I've been ruthless ( for me :heehee:) anything that is past it's best has either be cut right back to a crew cut ( it's the hairdresser in me resurfacing :roflol:)
                      moved or....ditched!
It's made it much easier to find homes for the last few plants now. :dbgrtmb:

I even cooked dinner...again today. Hmmm becoming a bit of a habbit...note to self..start burning things.;)

I'm off out to see a friend this afternoon, hubs has said he won't go up the ladder....Good thing about home security, I can keep track of what what's going on from my phone.....and give verbal warnings too.:nonofinger:

Oh yes and the other very important thing I did in the garden this morning was.... 20220613_132630.jpg

Good ol, Wifey to the rescue again, helped me pot up a lot of pots ready for late summer colour. This is due to the late start in the Greenhouse area, with that being said and it all up and running things should go more smoothly. May she long have the green fingers needed to keep my plants growing.

@Upsydaisy my OH says I can cut the hedges and borders straight by eye because I was a hairdresser for years

Potted on 2 cacti and swept and cleaned the back patio.

Potted up 4 planters with cosmos, Snapdragons and pot marigolds.
Had to take out the tulips first and put new compost in.
