Watering the hanging baskets and Flower Pouches. It is amazing that a hanging basket can take 2 litres of water before it starts to drip.
I also did a bit of hand weeding in the shrubbery but the CEO put a stop to that as she was worried about me getting too much sun. Another week of this and my skin will go from blue to white!

      Slap on the sunscreen @Jocko.
      Take your antihistamine.
      Be careful of the midges.
Mind you don't step on an adder.
      Keep hydrated..

But most of all enjoy the summer weather.

Got the hose out this evening, as the sun was going down, and gave everything a thorough soaking.

Not much to do on the balcony other than sweep it to get rid of fallen flowers & petals as well as the grass cutting that get blown in when the council gardeners cut our "lawn" for us!

Watered most of the pots, troughs & hanging baskets but not the tomatoes. They seem to be making headway once again! A few of the offshoots are now becoming proper stems & shortly I will be able to twist the strings around them again & watch them rocket skywards! I did tap the only open flower on them, for the time being, but I hope with the coming heatwave they will produce a great many more flowers so that I don't end the year without any tomatoes!

I have taken some days off work (helps a lot to have a meteorologist in the family to optimise the precious free days- after a week of wind and rain I woke up to +22 sunshine  ) so had a lovely, relaxed day of gardening.

My first ever grown up pond plant (the kind that is in a pot with aquatic soil, most posh), Typha Minima arrived and got into the pondlet together with Frogbits to float on the surface. Pump got a scrub and birds got plenty of free entertainment. Judging by their looks and the chirpy discussion on the fence when I'm doing anything with the pond, they are probably placing bets on when I fall in or get a faceful from the solar fountain I'm cleaning. :heehee:

Then it was the Big Soak time in preparation for the forecasted week of sunny heat, combined with deadheading and weeding.

Sowed seeds, Bellis in a shallow, round container for spring. My Grandmother used to tell about her earliest memory (around 1920) of waking up, finding her mother already working in the garden and the porridge bubbling, and setting herself by the step to weed their round bed of Bellis. I don't really like Bellis but I like the memory and since a magazine forced the seeds upon me, in they went. Some dill, lettuce and rocket got sown too.

Things are looking quite lush and apart from spider mite deforming the Echinops plants everything is just so nice. Spent the afternoon on the bench reading a book and sipping wine. My kind of holiday :)

Its been a hectic couple of weeks in the garden to many 10pm shifts have been put in . But I've got all my main pots planted up now I'll just be a slave to them now watering and tending to them everyday . The garden shifting into summer now the greenhouse isn't rammed full anymore , I did have to take a wheel barrow load of plants round to mum and put some in her pots .

And I've found my World Greatest Gardener trowel :hapfeet:its gone AWOL for going on 2 week, I've been furious with it how the :mute: did it get in the compost heap .

I've ordered some more plants which reminds me I need to pay for them some salvias and one or 2 others , like usual I'll find the plant I've trying to track down and look through the rest of the catalogue get a list of plants I wasn't intending of buy but I am committed now , so order plants the plant I really wanted in the first place isn't available  end up buying the other plants anyway , and the cycle goes round again possible on the same plant :rolleyespink:.

Same thing at the moment, picking fruit, deadheading and watering. Noticed that the polyanthus need to be watered so i'll get the hose out late afternoon.

Nothing much.....just sitting out and thinking about what has worked and what's been a bit of a disappointment in regards to this year's borders . Going through my seeds for inspiration for next year's display.

                              It's very hard and hot work......... 20220709_165537.jpg
