Doing some watering myself this morning and again this evening with some tomato feed . Pottered around today tied rose malvern hills down onto the fence and another rose . I've been drying the spring bulbs out for the past 4 week or so , tidied them up and bagged them up for storage until autumn , I've been looking at spring bulbs already in the parkers catalogue while watching the tennis .

Pond day today :) Definitively got rid of the Pickerel weed for the third time :gaah:, hoiked out the Oenanthe and parrot-feather, tidied the Acorus variegatus and dead -headed the Zantedeschia. Then tried to sort out the water lilies, which is where it became a two-day job :thud: Had lots of company in the form of frogs, guppies and dragonflies :)

I was hoping to get the last of my seed grown plants in the ground today but it was too hot outside. I spent an hour or so watering the garden this evening with the exception of the lawns. Something I've never done, it's such a waste.

Deadheaded one of the clematis that's slowly going over now. Planted out some plug impatients I had left over to fill a few gaps in pots. I did plan on planting out my Acideranthea corms I saved from last year and also some seeds from last years crocosmia Lucifer that have germinated but it was too hot.

          Shaded inside the greenhouse.

Interestingly the crocosmia seeds I put in a jar last year and forgot about them germinated themselves.

The boss doesn't like the heat so we were out before 08:00 transplanting a Verbena (she stole it from my garden) and planting out a dozen or so Lavender plants. We also moved a Hydrangea which in two years has grown no more than two inches, to what we hope will be a more suitable spot.
A stop for the Tesco delivery then I got the sprinkler out again. I also transplanted half a dozen Hemp Agrimony seedlings into pots. Then it was lunch and cold beer time.

I put another splitter with a shut off valve in the low flow irrigation so I could cut off the water going to the cannabis area when I am using the fertilizer injector. I don't want the plants getting the idea to flower too early or worse, turn into males and most fertilizers will prompt this kind of naughtiness.

And I used up my last bag of potting soil to fill some empty pots. The stuff is starting to go on sale for good prices now and I've got a spot all ready for new bags :)

This morning picked some blackcurrants and gooseberries.
The raspberries have come to an end, i picked 6lb 5oz. That's a bumper harvest,it must have been that i told them that I'd dig them up if they didn't do anything this year.:heehee:

Shhhhhh!:th scifD36: They're illegal immigrants  Mosquito control par excellence. I put them in my ponds because there's no chance of them escaping into the wild. They seem perfectly hardy and ( judging by the numbers) happy. The other reputedly tender success has been Eichornia crassipes. It flowers beautifully and reliably and comes back even after a hard winter like the last one :)

I've not bothered with that for 30yrs, it always used to just sit there and sulk.
I was under the impression the water never got warm enough for it.

as for getting it through the winter, no chance, even tried potting up and keeping in a greenhouse with no luck.

You must have been using the wrong sort of bucket  It never flowered for me either, in UK. Every year, though, I do put a couple of pieces in a bucket of water near the house wall, as insurance. The flowers are so beautiful, it's worth coddling :)
