WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2022

It's nice to get out in the garden, I spend all of my spare time.

 

I totally agree with you @shiney ...I can't just sit either and I'm always outside too but your jobs seem so strenuous for someone with your ailments, we don't hear from you for a while and find out you've been laid up with your back etc. Don't stop, just scale down!

My hubs is just as bad and although ,in his mid 70s, he is still fortunately very agile he seems to forget that he does have other health issues ( heart being one).

I know I'm a right one to talk, but I've learn my lesson, it hit me when hubs and I seriously thought I was having a stroke out in our garden last May.

Men in general...sorry....seem to think it's a sign of weakness having to admit that their ageing bodies can't cope as well now.

We nag you because we care.xx

Weeding, dug leeks for dinners. Cut down the Impatiens, Dahlia imperalis and Amicia that had been finished by the frosts off this week, mulched the Impatiens.

Over the weekend I also reduced the shredding pile by two thirds and then built it back up again.

 

Today has been a jolly good gardening day here at Sandy Castle. The temperature has been 5C, so quite warm for the time of year. It has allowed me to do several things. First, fwll 23 Northern Whites. Second, annoy the neighbours with my chain saw whilst felling them. Third, due to the fact I'd burned so many calories after having done all that work, not feel guilty having a cu of tea, together with a vanilla slice made from scratch by Mrs. G using her "magic machine."

In other words, a great day.

 

We had a beautiful day here in Edinburgh with no wind, sun and 10°C. In my potting shed, the temperature was 13°C (that is summer for this part of the country). I was outside all day working on building my climbing planter for Morning Glory. Madge moved some dormant Lily of the Valley from a planter that has been their home, into a new flower bed she is creating.

 

It is a balmy -6c 22f so not a lot going on in the gardens under the 2 feet of snow

But I was delighted this morning when I went to the cellar to add water to the capillary watering containers, to find a couple of the columbine seeds had germinated

Lots of the chillies have not sprouted but I wasn't being optimistic as quite a few of the varieties were old old seeds. And my hibiscus is working on another flower. It sure likes the LED's

 

It was a good day at Sandy Castle - @Sandy Ground, let's hope the tide doesn't come in. That's a lot of Thuja to fell in one day, will you remove the stumps yourself?
