I've done my plantlets/seedlings watering on the Front of House Patio and filled the cats' water bowl. The birds drink from the water feature ... had a Collared Dove come down yesterday and almost landed but hesitated although we sat perfectly still. The bees go to the cats' bowl. T'other Half is doing The Courtyard and Dining Patio pots (should have last evening) and that's it for here. No deadheading needed as I have mostly "self cleaning" shrubs and the Pelargoniums are mostly resting in the heat.

To be honest I have a lot of self cleaning ones too.....but the downside is that they're so messy if left to their own devices! :yikes::heehee:. The Lavateras are bad enough !!

Too true, but sweeping is less back breaking than deadheading. At least the Jacaranda has finished now as it is horrendous! The Almond, Brugmansia and Bouganvillas re a bit of nightmares too but make colourful outdoor carpets!

I only deadhead tall plants, so not really back-breaking ...it's my fave summer task, Miss Marple was always doing it too!:roflol:

I watered the newly sown grass and planted out some Hemp Agrimony I brought on from seed but by that time I was frozen so came back inside.

              Sounds perfect @Upsydaisy

'Frozen' @Jocko ? is it cold in Scotland ?

I'm recouping my energy now :heehee: after spending the morning in the blazing Welsh sunshine, moving a cold frame and the 15 concrete blocks on which it stood, from the front of the old 'garage' into the garden.
It was rather awkward bringing the blocks in through the narrow perspex shelter at the side of the 'garage' (had to be careful not to knock things over), and then the cold frame which I tipped on its side (otherwise I'd never have got it through)
It makes it easier to water things inside the frame, being not so far to carry the watering can.

I've got another cold frame to bring in but not today.
              IDEA :ideaIPB: ...
The builders building my little kitchen extension have been using a new type of concrete block, which is as light as a feather. Honestly, it's unbelievable ... I can carry several of them at the same time.

I'm wondering if I could order some and I'd be able to use them for the other cold frame to stand on, and it would save me struggling to bring another 15 heavy concrete blocks through the narrow shelter.
I'll have a word with the builder in the morning to see where he got them from :dbgrtmb:

More cactus repotting in a minute

I was going to do them sitting at my table on the patio @Upsydaisy but it's too hot so I'll do them in one of the perspex shelters, but that means I'll have to stand. Ah well, we can't have it all ways.
                  Enjoy your afternoon xx

I've done nothing out there apart from watering. It's now 28C and we're hiding indoors. I now pick the veggies either around 5.30 a.m. or 7.30 p.m. :noidea:

Watering the pots that need it, topped up the pond, bit of tennis with no. 1 daughter, and generally been hot!

No sun and a biting wind. It was a bit better this evening so I went out and planted out some perennials for next summer.
