It started off nice and cool this morning with thundery showers forecast for all day. It is hot and sunny and I've been filling up more green waste bins from neighbours as they haven't yet been collected .

I've just picked 6lb of beans and don't expect to do any more gardening today

Don't any of your neighbours have green waste?

£32 GBP for a green waste bin here is sunny North Wales. I say green bin, they are brown - just to be awkward. We we're sent a RFID tag to stick on the bin this year - so that the bin wagon knows that the bin has been paid for. I'm sure it's not just to identify 'paid for' bins - there's probably some other data that being collected for nefarious purposes.

Heavy rain last night - so no watering today - hurrah .

Very little at this time if year. Most have grass and trees and very little in the way of plants and veg.

No charge here for green waste bins (collected every week) and they are green bins :heehee:

              Cloudy but warm this morning.

I've been tidying up the planters, pots, baskets and troughs, including all the Hostas.

Keeping my fingers crossed that we get a dose of rain this afternoon.:fingers crossed:

Our bin men are on strike as of today, taking advantage of the Edinburgh Festival being in full swing.
Went out and staked some plants beaten down by the rain. Lifted the rest of the Sweet Peas which were all scorched despite heavy watering.
I found out today that Blue Badge Holders are exempt from the hosepipe ban for watering gardens.

We've been through our 'we don't have drivers phase and most disgruntled everyone was! All done with now.

I'm currently enjoying some wet stuff fall out the sky :) Finally!

Nothing whatsoever today! I haven't even stepped out onto the balcony! Spend plenty of time out there yesterday clearing up the leaves that had fallen off my poor Fuchsias & pruning them back by about 2/3rds after I discovered a Red Spider Mite infestation!

We had a rumble or two of thunder yesterday here but not a drop of rain!!! No rain today either, just a lot of cloud all day long! The temps have bottomed out at just 19C today! To think a few days ago we were roasting in the the low 30s! Had to go out today with a light jacket on!!!

Each water authority has its own rules but they are fairly similar.

Blue Badge holders are exempt from the ban but should not water lawns unless they have been laid or seeded within 28 days.

Customers on the Vulnerable Customers list who have mobility issues but are not in possession of a Blue Badge can use a hosepipe in a similar way to Blue Badge holders. In that case most authorities require a medical report which can be done by your GP (if you can get an appointment! :rolleyespink:) or by a chiropractor or physiotherapist.

Anyone can use a hose for newly laid lawns or to keep fish ponds topped up.

Also most authorities allow you to water vegetables and fruit that you are growing.

Yesterday's monsoon did wonders for the beans. Although I picked 6lbs yesterday morning I have just picked another 8lbs. :hapydancsmil: They will all be sold by this evening (apart from those I eat) and the money goes into the charity pot.

In addition to the info I gave about hosepipe bans:- you are allowed to water plants if you are selling them either commercially or for charity.
