Those are really very good looking mini gardens, @Michael Hewett :blue thumb:

Obviously you now need to buy a bigger house, preferably with an orangerie, to display them well :heehee:

Good evening @Logan my friend I really haven't got a clue, they looked so untidy that I didn't give it much thought I just wanted to give them a tidy up, I'm not much of a planner when it comes to gardening somehow the project just ends up how it ends up;)

ps I 'm thinking about removing that pomegranate bush as well:smile:

How exciting Woo, you sound like me !!

I did that last year to a couple of our borders..once I started pulling things up there was no stopping me..I've learnt not to plan too much as I have experienced short plants growing tall and tall plants being nearly invisible to the naked eye....even with binoculars actually!!:heehee: I now just except what Mother Nature decides is best.;)

Looking forward to your future pics and updates.

This morning after my favourite summer task of dead heading I set about moving a few things, a white Buddleja that I grew from a cutting..but..:fingers crossed: as apparently it's best to move them in a month or two's time, only discovered this after the deed was done.:oopss: Dug up and replanted in ( hopefully) a more appropriate place some Bearded Irises that were hidden away under one of the Acers..
Moved and rehomed some Verbena B that had sprung up inbetween some bricks in the path.
Decided I wanted to add more of them to the borders on the east patios as unlike most other plants they don't grow all distorted due to the shade that the big Oak tree creates....they just keep going straight up regardless, so I'm pleased to have found these escapees today.
Planted out a couple of self seeded Hellebores..I wonder what colour we'll get.

Pheasants have continually wrecked the lawn underneath the bird feeding station. I've re-turfed the lawn in the past but have given up. So, out there yesterday I lifted the old small slabs that were at the base, dug out the turf and replaced with new slabs covering more ground. I then filled round the slabs with soil and grass seed and put some netting down to keep the pheasants off while it grows. With the old station rusting badly I decided to invest in a new one.

                  IMG_7137.JPG

It wasn't until I took these images I realised each slab has the same pattern. OCD kicked in when I realised the two right hand slabs were a different way round to the left. Guess what I've been doing today? After placing the new base post in the ground and looking at the rest of the station I discovered it's not the one I ordered. Having bought it online I'm now in ongoing discussion with the retailer to sort out the problem. Meanwhile with the birds confused, I've re-erected the old one elsewhere temporarily.

I would be the same too @Sheal

It's little details like that that can really bug me once I've spotted them. As hard as I try to resist the urge to right what I consider a ' wrong '..... I just never can.:heehee:
I now try to squint when looking at certain things in the hope it blocks out the finer details....otherwise.....

The Boss spotted an article in the latest RHS magazine about making planters out of used food cans so she has been saving them up (you can only eat so many baked beans before getting scunnered) and today I was out drilling holes in the bases, holes at the top for ribbon and priming them inside and out. Tomorrow she will paint them in bright colours. She has small Autumn Violas on their way to put in them. Then I suppose I will have to put up hooks to hang them on.

The same with me @Upsydaisy. :) It's funny when something is spotted that's wrong, no matter how hard you try your eyes are automatically drawn to it until it's put right. I have a good eye for levelling but I still checked that base post with a spirit level.

I need to replace the edging for the gravel too. The old wooden edging has rotted and broke up while I was working there. One job ticked off the list and another added...it never ends.

Not a lot here either ... just looked after my nursery babes and planned what I have to do before our visitors arrive with us for the afternoon evening on the 14th ... and planned menu.

After moving my two cold frames the backs of them are now exposed (they're not up against a wall any more) and since one of them has the two back panes missing I became afraid the wind would travel through it and blow out the front panes.
I found a piece of corrugated perspex which as luck would have it was exactly the right length, but it was a bit too wide, so when I fitted it to the back of the cold frame it was fine until I closed the tops, and then it pushed the perspex against the plants ...

so I asked the builders doing my extension if they'd cut it for me and they had a tool that did just that.
Now the perspex fits nicely at the back of the cold frame, and my plants are snug inside and not exposed to any winds.
