Cut, strimmed and edged the front and back lawns then potted on a couple of Hollyhock seedlings.

I wouldn't worry about taking cuttings, we have 100s that self sow..even in the cracks in the pathways . I just dig them up to replant or to compost.

Good afternoon I am going to transplant some of my Winter (January King/ Marabel)and Spring cabbage plants in to my raised beds and I am still searching here locally for some bare Root wallflowers I used to be able to get them in bundles of 50 for next to nothing prices but at the moment I cannot find any:smile:

I mowed the front lawns with the horses in the neighbouring field nagging (excuse the pun) at me for the cuttings. As soon as they hear the lawnmower start up they usually appear from nowhere. :)

I cut, strimmed and edged the front and back lawns, having cut the "Meadow" yesterday.

Potted up 3 large tubs with spring bulbs tulips and hyacinths, wallflowers and polyanthus.
Still got to tidy the garage floor, do that later.

I've not seen them around for donkey's years! When I lived at home with my parents, (over 50 years ago!) I used to buy them every year for summer flowering but in the 21 years since I returned from living in Spain I haven't seen them once in our local market.

Last Sunday my son brought me the Pansies I had asked him to buy me from a gardening centre. As I don't have a car I can't get to those sort of places.
                      .
Pansies just bought for balcony railings 11th September 2022 002.jpg
                      .
Then on Monday I planted 10 in a trough on the middle bar of the balcony railings.
                      .

                      .
When my son brings me round a bag of compost I have asked him to buy me then I will set about planting up the other two troughs on the middle bar.
                      .

I just googled bare root wallflower and a couple of local places came up, one of which actually states that they are in stock.
Not really local to you though.

In my post above I forgot to mention they are underplanted with Daffodils - from last year! I let the die back & planted summer bedding over them.

I also forgot to mention that I took out the Geraniums that had been growing in the troughs (all 3) as well as the Sweet Williams. These flower far too late in the year to grow on the balcony (June) & they make too big plants. I've taken them out & put them in 6" pots.

I love your balcony. You lived in Spain for many years. Out of curiosity, what did you grow there? Do you have photos? Why did you go back to the UK?

We double-ordered Tulip "Orange Princess" and the second load arrived today so I planted them at the bottom of my shrubbery/herbaceous border. I planted them among the Dahlias, which I do not intend to lift. I am going to cover them with Straw and Strulch.
I also picked up the windfall apples and then gathered some of the good ones from the tree. Had a couple, and they are very tasty if a little hard.
