I wouldn't have thought about the advisability or otherwise of spraying it with water!

I have done similarly today! Instead of a lean to I have a small plastic greenhouse that sits on the big table in the most sheltered corner of our balcony. I also have some shelving in the same corner which is very useful as well for overwintering plants. It's not a frost free corner but while the frosts are not very strong most plants should be able to pull through the winter. :fingers crossed:

Like you I've also taken some (lots!:heehee:) of Fuchsia cuttings! I've put mine in some small jars of water in the kitchen. But I have had others in pots of compost in the mini-greenhouse for a couple of weeks.

I shall have to cut back a lot of Pelargoniums I brought back home from my church's garden. Unfortunately as I was trying to dig them up they lost most of their root systems! I've put them in 6" pots but didn't have time to cut them back as it was dark by the time I got back home. So that will be a job for tomorrow.

The Pelargoniums came from cutting of plants I overwintered last year. I took dozens of cuttings in the spring & practically ALL of them rooted! As I had far too many to be able to use on the balcony I put them in the church gardens. :)

I've dug up some & put Sweet Williams in their place.

This is why you never pour water on a chip pan fire. If there's one good thing to come out of my momentary lapse in intelligence, it's an opportunity to remind folks of this essential, potentially life saving lesson.

I would of just throw water on it anyway just for the crack I love a good bonfire / fireball , might have singe eyebrows / hair though might be a improvement . Looks like it put it out though I didn't think it would.

Not doing anything today. There's a gale blowing out there and it's just a little bit wet as well. I had to go out there a half hour ago (suitably clad in anti-gale gear :heehee:) and rescue the watering can that was blowing around the patio and bumping into everything.

We still have an active weather warning in place for strong winds too ,we haven't ventured out yet but can already spot one Lavatera down.

              Dread to look more closely:sad:

I had planned a day in the greenhouse but not until these winds subside.

2 Lavateras down, numerous plants snapped pots and trays strewn over the patios. Thankfully its a lot calmer now. Winds of 115 mph recorded at The Needles, we always tend to get the knock on effects.

So it's going to be a day of sorting out I think!

The windy night bought the majority of the leaves down off the oak trees, so this afternoon spent raking these up from the front lawn got one and half dumpy bags full so far.

We had a 30ft branch break off our big willow tree. It didn't look that big whilst it was on the tree! :heehee: It is cut up now and distributed between garden waste bins (it's pick up day today) and the bonfire.

The birds weren't happy as it took down our candelabra bird feeder that stands on the lawn. It took a while to work my way through to the feeder to rescue it. One of the feeders was smashed but only a cheap one. Luckily I keep all the old feeders or parts of them and was able to cobble together another one out of the parts.

Lots of large patio plants blown over but very little damage. :blue thumb: I got backache from picking up so many windfall apples.

                          Today is tidying up day.

In the evening a very loud thunderclap shook the building (didn't see any lightning) and the power went out for the area. It was back on fairly quickly.

I heard a really loud noise yesterday evening as well, it didn't sound like thunder or fireworks.
Strange, wasn't a sonic boom was it.
