A few showers of mizzle didn't stop me raking the last of the leaves - taking advantage of a windless day. I've also swept up hundreds of Beechnuts so they don't damage the mower blade next season. The Beech has produced a good harvest this year but I've not seen either Squirrels or Pine Martens to help out. A break next year as Beeches produce nuts every third year.

Beech nuts are tasty if roasted (don't eat them raw) but tedious to husk.

Pulling up ivy that's grown in the corner of the back garden around the Holly trees and also the brambles that's growing up the Holly trees. It's been left for a few years so lots to remove.

Just finished spreading around the last bag of garden soil that needed using up before the snow flies. Put the covers on the cold frame and got the solar panel wires protected from ground level up to a visible area so no more nibbling will happen. I had to feed them through a pipe and it was a little tricky.

And I was bad, I ordered a couple of perennials that were marked down. A fritillaria and a bright red peony. Naughty me.

And this popped up in one of my screens - must be in @Victoria 's garden? :heehee:

I did manage to get out onto the balcony for a while this morning. After having to sweep away the pigeon droppings & the the leaves & compost I spend a while putting the Crocuses I bought last Friday in the pots of Pansies on the balcony railings. As the Pansies haven't been in the pots for more than a couple of weeks I pushed 4 down the sides of each of the 10 pots on top of the balcony railings. That took care of 40 Crocuses! But there weren't enough to put in the other 2 pots! Rather than leave them without any Crocuses I opened another pack of 15 (different variety) & put 8 in the last 2 pots! The rest I put in the pots of Daffs overplanted with a Cyclamen in each of 4 pots. Then I put the remaining bag of 15 in other pots & tubs around the balcony.

I hope to make a start on the patio pressure washing to clean it up a bit for winter. It saves having to work very hard at it in Spring. The large pots of annuals will need to be cut back and removed (over 50 of them) but that's too heavy work for me so someone else will do it - next Wednesday, I hope. :fingers crossed: I'll then be able to wash away all the leaked soil that will have stained the paving. :phew:

Spent the morning making a more detailed 'To do' list. Noting down each border separately and what needs doing in each one.

Placed plants waiting to still be planted out in various positions in the borders to see if I like them there.

Swept all 3 patios which were covered in chunks of moss, acorns and leaves, still loads more to come down.
Gathered up potted tender plants to move into either the low level coldframe or greenhouse..

Off out this afternoon so couldn't really knuckle down to jobs as much as I would have liked but have kept the weekend clear to attack my long list of garden tasks. :dbgrtmb:

@Upsydaisy Where you have swept 3 patios I've had to sweep one balcony - of the pigeon poo & the leaves from trees as well as some compost the wind manages to find - no matter how often I sweep the balcony! I also did a little watering.

With the sun hiding behind a cloud i decided to cut back the Salvia farinacea against the house, tidy up the Nepeta in the two pedestal pots by the door and chop the Geraniums back. I also cut down the Balsam and tidied up the Plectranthus 'Mona Lavender' after its second bloom this year. Pattio Cutback 12 Nov 22.jpg
