Planted 70 iris reticulata bulbs in one of the beds. Then the squirrel came and started digging...thought I'd better cover them up!

Buried my eldest cat  (He was dead at the time ...)
Poor old puss spent his last days at the vet's, all to no avail. I won't make that mistake again!
He's at rest under a newly-planted Prunus serrulata 'Royal Burgundy'. Quite fitting for a lion King :) 20220102_104529.jpg

So sorry to hear that @noisette47

Catching up with the weeding in the back garden, there's a lot of Dock's and stinging nettles.

Another day in which I've not been able to get on the balcony. As they say, "Life got in the way!"

Filled a couple of builders bags with free woodchip down the allotment. It's freshly shredded leylandii and smells rather nice

Yes, it's always devastating to lose a loved animal, but at least he wasn't ill for long and he won't have to suffer growing really old and infirm. Thanks, Michael :) He wasn't bad for a French ragamuffin

I'm just clearing the leaves from the ponds nowadays, nothing else to do. The perennials will stay as they are, finches love especially the dried seed heads of Echinops and in any case some form and shape looks better than clear soil in the borders. I think

Apart from ponds, fallen leaves can happily stay where they fall. I call them "protective mulch for the winter" and to be honest, any organic matter is welcome on my heavy clay soil. OK, I'm just plain lazy but camouflage the fact in veil of eco- friendliness. :heehee:

The grass is benefitting from the high temperatures and is growing madly, but the afternoon and overnight rains make the lawns totally sodden so unfortunately, no cutting can take place. Not that I would anyways, lawnmowers up here hibernate from October onwards so I possibly couldn't disturb that.

It's peaceful slumber now. Planning for some more solar and battery lights, cutting nice branches to bring indoors and trying not to forget to pot up the Amaryllis currently uprooted somewhere in the garage, it should be fine to plant about now for some early spring blooms. If I can find it.

Did some more weeding and watching the robin looking for some grubs.

I've been burning all my blighted tomato plants at the allotment, we are only allowed bonfires the first two weeks in November and they have to be after sunset. I also burnt all the old blackberry and raspberry canes I thinned out:
