    In the last few days Mrs Shiney has been cutting back the plants in the patio pots (only those that need it :)) and I have been working at recycling the compost from the pots. That is much harder than it sounds.

    A lot of the pots had Cosmos in them and with plants 6ft high they were potbound and solid with roots. I didn't want to waste so much compost so tipped each pot into a wheelbarrow and had to use a pruning saw to cut it up before pulling the clumps apart.

    I have spread about 600 litres of compost, and fine roots, on some of the flower beds with at least the same amount yet to be done. The surface of the beds now looks like nice black soil instead of clay.

    I've also been pressure washing the mess that the pots have left on the patio. Each area needs a quick blast to clear all the surface soil, then a second blast to get the more solid dirt and a third much longer blast will be needed to get the really ground in dirt out.

    I'm hors de combat now but have all winter to work on it. :) There's a lot of windfall apples to be picked up but I shall get visitors to do that for me as I have been banned by 'she who must be obeyed' from doing any heavy work or bending :nonofinger:. They pop in for apples so their payment can be to pick up extra apples. :biggrin:

      Moved a loganberry plant to the back of the garden, it was from a runner so probably get one to take it's place.

        I was feeling better after lunch so picked up another barrow of apples and did a short stint at pressure washing.

          Good afternoon I have been turning 2 raised beds over and doing some weeding .decided to leave the fallen cherry tree leaves where they are as they look really lovely with the gold and red colour on the bark chippings,managed to mow the lawn:smile:

            I've been sorting the shelving out in my greenhouse now the windows are in, and I've been putting the cacti and succulents in place.
            I have lots more to bring up from the perspex shelter by the garage tomorrow and I doubt there's enough room on the shelves for them all, some will have to go on the floor !
            When they are dotted around in various places they don't look so many, but all together, well, there are more than I thought :yikes: :heehee:

            Isn't it strange how less sluggish one feels after doing something outside :smile:

                Nothing today either - but I have a very good excuse we are away from home for a couple of days as my wife had an eye operation at a hospital in another city. As she has an early morning appointment for tomorrow we are staying the night in a B&B!

                I'm writing all my posts this evening on my phone! There's a first time for everything!

                            Morning Victoria yes hopefully i can over winter the plants.
                            Yes the leaves are for a mulch around my fruit bushes and Azaleas, i won't use it for the other borders because the slugs and snails will hide in it. :) There's no harm in asking :)

                                @Balc I am glad to hear your wife's eye surgery went well. Having any procedure on your eyes has got to be one of the most stressful of all medical operations!

                                I only tried to do something a little different with my bird feeder and table. I moved the stabilizing block of wood from underneath the table, to on top and then drilled from the underside up through the table to secure things. The squirrels were using the block as a "hand hold" to grab and swing themselves out and up onto the table. Then they sat there pigging out.
