Balc, you seem to have a big problem with pigeon droppings.
Be careful I think you can catch a disease off them.

I've heard pigeons being called 'flying rats' because they are so dangerous to our health and can pass on several diseases.

In the same vein: grey squirrels are referred as tree rats.

I've been taking more succulents into my greenhouse from the perspex shelter by my garage, and also things like Coprosma, Marguerites, Bacopa etc for overwintering.
I've also been putting some small rooted cuttings and small potted Primula and Aquilegia plants, into the perspex shelter where the cacti and succulents were. They were outside but I want them to be in shelter for the winter.
I have lots more to go in there, as well as some herbs in pots, but I can't do that until next week.

First I potted up my newly arrived Hibiscus syriacus ' French Cabaret' Violet Double Blooms in a terracotta pot then spent an hour and a half in The Courtyard cutting back the Salvia coccinea (Texas Sage), Vitex agnus-castus. Brachyscome iberidifolia (Swan River Daisies), Westringia, Thevetia peruviana, Tecomaria and thinned the Pandorea jasminoides as much as I could reach. Then I trimmed the climbing stems off the Mandevillas in pots along the pathway. I was going to cut down the Fuschia boliviana but it has new buds on it.

I'm in the process of hacking back years of ivy growth on the fence between me and one of my neighbours, the fence is in a bad way under the ivy, I put it up over 30 yrs ago, bit worried that if I cut the ivy back too much the fence will fall or get blown down, it is the ivy that is holding it up.

Its not my boundary and if it falls down I doubt they would want to replace it, the house is housing association and they wont be bothered either.

There is a lot of it going about 70ft the length of the garden and up to 8ft high in places even more where its grown around shrubs.

I got 4 large cardboard boxes and broke them up to put around the Azaleas in the back garden.

I started emptying one of the compost bins, but i had to stop about half way my back started aching too much, so i'll finish tomorrow. What i did get out i put around the azaleas on top of the cardboard that i put down yesterday.

It is a pleasant day so I had a walk around the garden today just to see how things are going. All the spring bulbs in tubs and planters are through, I have Wallflower, planned for next summer coming into bloom and Pelargoniums in bud. I have Dianthus still flowering and a lovely display of roses. Here's hoping the large slab of cold air over Eastern Europe doesn't move this way. Especially if the wet weather from the West comes up against it.
As an aside. Tomorrow night, 21:00, Five Select. "The Big Freeze: Winter '63".
