Taking some time off the hacking back of the ivy, it's going to be ongoing in the next few weeks.
I'd like to do some shredding but it's just one big mud pile around now and the stuff I want to shred is soaking.

Started moving some pots around ready for the colder nights that are forecast, but then it started raining again so given up for today.

@Jocko ,funny you should mention that cold air out east, I'm watching that myself.
I remember 2008 or might have been 2009, no frost until mid December then it set in really cold from the east right through Christmas until mid January.

I've begun preparing my new lawn for next year, will be turning it all and trying to remove as many weeds as possible.

That was 2009. It started here on the 1st of December and continued right through until Hogmanay. According to the Met Office it was officially a White Christmas here in Edinburgh that year.

I've spent a couple of hours removing cobble sized stones from a patch of ground. It now needs digging over and levelling ready for grass seeding in the Spring.

Had a few hours out in the garden, the first session for well over a week since going down with this bug. Still wheezing , coughing and feeling completely washed-out but it was good to be out in the sunshine. Despite pacing myself I am pleased with what was achieved.

Dug up a few new Dahlias that were in planters that are too big and heavy to move, they are now drying off in the greenhouse before potting up and overwintering under cover. Next year I hope to get them in the borders to save all this additional faffing about.

Dug up and potted up a few little Salvias that I will try and overwinter( if not I have plenty of seeds).
Trimmed and potted up more Bacopa for overwintering.

Cut black the frost blackened Dahlias that will remain in the borders. This cleared a nice space for the budding up Hellebores.

Hubs cut the Lavatera hard back.

That certainly ticked a few jobs off from the list.:dbgrtmb:

Join the club @Logan , I caught mine from my hubs a fortnight ago and got so poorly that I started testing myself for Covid....thankfully all negative but I'm still not over it.
                  Hope you get better soon.

Other than sweep the balcony floor & look at a few of the plants (it seems that a few of the Fuchsia cuttings in the mini-greenhouse may have rooted! :dbgrtmb:) there was nothing to do! Being a dull day & cold I didn't linger on the balcony for more than a few minutes!

I've been trying to tidy up my shed, I found 2 odd gloves:yikes: both right handed.
I didn't stay long as it was a bit chilly.

Another four ton bags of leaves put on the compost heaps. Very few trees are still retaining lots of leaves. :blue thumb: The only ones left with a lot of leaves are the Hazel, Silver Birch and an enormous amount on the Willows.

The Big Freeze of 62/63 went through to March and some parts of the country had 20ft snow drifts. I remember us being cut off for days.

Yeah I know that, the reason I mention 2009 was because it was an exceptionally mild Autumn then overnight, almost, it turned to hard frost and eventually snow by Christmas.
Bugmansia on the allotment in December was wiped out.
