well it depends on how many seeds you've got or how expensive they are . If you want 1 plant you'd be best sowing 2 or 3 seeds and pinching out the weakest ones or pot them up and give them away . If the seeds are expensive I'd sow one seed .
It's far to early for sowing tomatoes more like March

Yes very tempting, but from experience only sow when you feel that the time is right. I'd sow more than one seed because it might not come up.

Lovely day here ,so we were able to spend all afternoon outside enjoying the, surprisingly, warm sunshine.
Just had a general mooch around, sweeping and removing the cuttings as hubs chopped various shrubs back.
So many plants are on the move now and it's so uplifting to see poking their heads through the soil. :)

Beautiful day here too, but I had to go and find a birthday present for a good friend in a near-by town.
I got home at 3.30 and it was still pleasant outside so I tidied and watered the plants in one of the cold frames and put some poorly-looking potted primulas in there too, in the hope they will buck up.
I checked the tender perennials overwintering in a perspex shelter, and gave Bella some biscuits on the windowsill in the shed (otherwise I would have had no peace ! :cat-kittyandsmiley:)

Not much but extended a couple of veg beds and the soft fruit patch, but only by a smidgen.
Potted up a Musa basjoo for use as a house plant and a few very small wintersweet plants that came in the post

Thank you @Upsydaisy no I just over did it a bit yesterday when I was cutting the leaves off the hellebores, now my lower back aches from all the bending, but it won't stop me I'll just have to slow down a bit.

My wife planted out another 100 Snowdrops "in the green" while I broke up some of the clay spoil heap and shifted a load to fill up a bed. I then broke down as much as I could of what was left, covered it in horticultural gypsum and watered it in.

Finished cutting the leaves off the hellebores around the front, still got a lot out the back but I never get round to doing it. Also dug up a spurge that spreads too much with the root runners and a rotten tree stump.

Planted a rose today Dame Judi Dench by the front door.
20220203_142748.jpg do you think its deep enough? (Still learning with Rose's)
Have also noticed new growth on the clematis "so many" which seems so early compared to last year :rolleyespink:

Very nice rose :) . On the David Austin website its says plant the graft lower, I plant all my roses lower, it doesn't actually matter if its lower than the soil level or above but does help against wind rook.

Not too much but I had delivered a set of pot wall hoops which I've screwed to a wooden wall next to the 'courtyard'. I'll figure out what to put in the pots soon but have ordered a trailing rosemary for one of them.
Have also been using some new kitchen knives. Not gardening but I'm ridiculously chuffed with them :)

I dont have any decent before pictures to show how this looked before this weekend. The slabs are all freshly laid. The original plan was to slab all the way down. In the meantime this should go some way to hiding the rubbish behind it. I am slightly concerned that the wind might break it.

                                G.
