Just as well I covered the Geraniums and Pelargoniums with fleece again last night because the temps were lower than forecast at - 4C! That's two degrees lower than the last few nights!
      .
The photo shows the self-sown Nasturtiums that have survived the frosts of the last few nights. I doubt if they will survive after tonight's frost!

Nippy here too, I've been out this morning checking on plants outside in the borders and pots.

Have also pulled out loads of fleece that will be added to all the overwintering plants in the greenhouse and in both cold frames . I will do that job this afternoon as I need a hot drink to thaw me out.
We are forecast heavy snow for this afternoon so must keep an eye out and do it before it arrives...if indeed it does;)

The soil around a number of tender tuberous plants hasn't frozen; so now the growth has been blasted into next spring I put a mulch of leaf mould around the stems.
Greenhouse I left alone until it warms up a bit, next weekend in all likelihood, any additional insulation I put on the plants now will just keep them cold.

All I did was to pour hot water on the bird water container.

We just lifted the ice out (nicely shaped to do that) and refilled it with fresh water!

                    Clearing snow mostly.
I'm always going in and out so if it gets packed down it just turns into ice, so I like to clear paths to greenhouses and bird feeders then a sprinkling of salt.

I've brought 8 big Fuchsias into the kitchen. They're hardy ones and were under some shrubs. I thought that would be enough protection for them but it isn't this year, they're frozen solid. They're standing on some blue recycling bags in the middle of the floor.

I hope your plants survive, @Michael Hewett, I have some Fuchsias, Geraniums & pelargoniums in the mini-greenhouse on the table on the balcony. Obviously it's not frost proof but being in the most sheltered corner & with an extra plastic bag (from a mattress we bought a couple of years ago) over it I think most plants will survive - at least they have other winters while we don't get a winter like 2009/10.

As my car is in the garden, no garage, I'm going to try and get my car clear of snow around the door and unfreeze the door. Then I'll get it started and warmed up before attempting to clear the rest of it. If the door won't open because it is frozen I shall run an extension lead and use a hairdryer. :ideaIPB: Hairdryers are adaptable as I also use one for getting a BBQ fired up much quicker as it works like a bellows.
