Apart from filling the bird feeders I checked in the greenhouse and watered a few things that needed it The covered propagator is running on low to just keep the frost off and the remaining two chilli plants have survived.

I remember making my own 'Crystal' radio in the early 1950's. I think you can still buy 'cat whiskers'.

I used to buy Radio Kits in the distant days when my Eye sight was good.

I've filled the bird feeders - again :rolleyespink:. Watered the plants in the car port and under the pergola and have done the most annoying job in the garden, trying to clean the summerhouse window ledges after the willow leaves have stained them . They're UPVC and even using a special PVC cream cleaner they don't all come off. They leave an orange/brown stain

Several Fuchsias in the middle of my kitchen floor got pruned and I think they'll be all right since they looked 'greenish' when cut.
I took some dead leaves off my Beaucarnia and Chlorophytum, they are also in the kitchen.

Could you perhaps treat them with some sort of repellent coating? Hydrofuge products are very popular here but they're designed for cement-based surfaces or stone. Might be worth Googling for UPVC protection, though?

I dug my dahlias up the other day and washed them off with the hose , some were still frozen in the pots had to pour quite a lot of hot / warm water on them to free them. Today emptied the rest of the pots so I can start planting bulbs out , I've got a lot to plant well over 1000 not normally this late in the year but they'll be fine . Got the big beast lawnmower out and shred the dahlia stems and other bits . Also had a squabble with a clematis scrambling onto the witch hazel , that got put back onto the fence it'll get the chop if it carries on :paladin:

I've looked at the Everest website, doesn't say anything about a protection barrier, the cleaners should be ones that are designed for uPVC but they don't say which one. Don't use bleach because it can damage the surface and make it brown.

I'm using the one the installers gave when putting them in years ago and it is a litre bottle that is especially for UPVC. :blue thumb: I'll also talk to the window installers down the road when they're bakc in the New Year.

My neighbour got some stuff from the local PVC supplier, i don't know what it's called but it appeared to be a solvent of some kind.
I bought some stuff from screwfix and it was useless, basically soapy water.
Don't try just any solvent though as it might well melt the PVC.
