Dry today, so rubbish to the compost heap along with the cardboard. Then trim and cut up the branches that came down on Monday. Stack logs for a couple of colleagues to pick up later next year. Trimmings into pile for shredding. Then have a look in the greenhouse and as necessary in there.

I, on the other hand, haven't done anything! Other than sweep the balcony of pigeon dropping once again! As we had rain for two days the balcony was too wet & too dangerous to do the job so I had no option but to do it today while it was dry & there is no wind. Not a very pleasant job but one that has to be done almost daily!

I am always surprised how big branches when trimmed cut and stacked always look a lot smaller.

Had a busy day well afternoon got lots done and yesterday , planted out quite a lot of my tulips now in pots and daffodils . Went a bit overkill with my two fence troughs they've got Tulips - tete daffs - hyacinths - muscari with some viola on top . Got a few pots left which I'll probably plant up with daffodils but I want to get as many as possible in the garden first. Got about 500 bulbs left to plant I think.

So I've tidied / cut back the long border in the back garden most of the back garden has been cut back now, I can see where I'll be planting some daffs but first I need to move a large physocarpus Diablo its just to big for that border , replacing with a Physocarpus lady in red cutting I got given its, a smaller plant with nicer redder foliage.

Dug out a cornus elegantissima wrong place butting up to my witch hazel ,I'll find a home for it some where. Planted my apricot hellebore with its orange crocus under the witch hazel Jelena, Jelena is also orange / apricot so hopefully they put on a show especially when I plant a ton of February gold or jetfire daffs with them as well. Planted a Daphe odora Aureo marginata in the spot I removed the hellebore from :).

I've been putting some more shelves in my greenhouse. I know it's Christmas Day but putting shelves in the greenhouse is better than watching rubbish on the tv

I agree Michael. Got home from our Christmas lunch yesterday and felt I needed to DO something, after so many hours sat down enjoying rich food and champagne.

Decided to dig up my first potatoes of the year which were Red Ladies. Very happy with the size of the tubers and yield was pretty good, 1kg seed potatoes planted and just over 7kg harvested. Of course I always want more! but there are still Kennebecs, Nicolas and Pink Fir Apple to go so will seed if I can beat that.

Shaping up for a very hot day today - forecast top of 34c - so probably won't do anything except watering. Probably should put the shadecloth on the greenhouse but can't be bothered :dunno:

(Edited: RED ladies. Got myself confused with apples haha. )
