My wife and I tried putting up fence mesh for the Virginia Creeper to grow on but it wasn't going well so she went off in a strop telling me to do it myself or get some other mug to help me.
As I cannot manage it myself I just left it as it was.

@pete @Logan thanks both. The nutrient deficiency could indeed be the issue. I’ll give them a feed…

My other half came to me for help this afternoon. She wanted a 40-year-old Rhododendron lifted in preparation for a Sarcococca going in. What a struggle that was for old-timers. We got it out eventually then cut it down to a foot or so tall and I have purloined it for my piece of garden. I'll plant it tomorrow. Hopefully, it will flower next year.
I also took delivery of a cheap birdbath so I installed that in my bit as well. This photo is NOT my garden.

Before coming in for the evening I finished installing the netting for the Virginia Creeper. The "mug" I got to help was a pair of woodworker's clamps. They do exactly what I ask them to do and don't fly off the handle.

Thank you @Logan and thank you also for the Joel video’s, I am getting a lot of ideas from these, we are currently thinking about a wildlife pond!

For the bird bath I moved 6 concrete slabs that used to hold up a water butt, and put them under the bird bath instead of it sitting on the fire pit. I then dug up loads of bulbs and some grasses and put then in all around the base. Hopefully next year you won’t be able to see the concrete slabs when the grasses grow around it. Finally tonight I went out and moved 5 solar rock lights, so now it is visible from the house and looks lovely.

Apart from a spend of £1.50 for a split bag of ballast, the whole project has come from things we already had in the garage and garden. Trying to repurpose what we inherited when we moved here six months ago. Little pleasures :)

Awww thank you @Upsydaisy thats really sweet of you, I had a lovely day, a 2ish mile walk across the fields to the pub, an amazing lunch (great bottle of Rioja), walk back across more (muddy) fields, a lazy afternoon nap on the sofa and an early night, perfect :)

Thank you @Victoria I am very pleased with myself actually, I’d never done anything like the bird bath before, but just got the image in my head after doing some internet research and thought why not give it a try! Probably more luck than skill but heyho there’s no harm in trying :) I made some adjustments today, will have to post a pic later in the week when I get a chance.

Had a mooch around the garden, once wrapped up it was surprisingly pleasant out there .

I took off all the netting and protective covers from all my pots that have a variety of bulbs in them. The tulips especially are getting tall and the covers were restricting their space.

Watered and trimmed up the Pelargoniums in the small cold frame....oops I had forgotten about them :whistle:but they seem fine albeit a tad thirsty!!

Sowed some Cephalophora, thought I had more in the pkt than there actually was so the sowing was on the sparse side.

Quite right @Loofah. Something else ticked off that never ending 'to do' list.

Edit: I spent a couple of hours burning pine debris that was brought down in a gale a while back. Second and final session tomorrow.
