WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2022

Today I assembled my new cold frame then, because it is going to be mounted on a coffee table, I cut a base for it from 19mm ply which I painted with Ronseal wood treatment.

The next job is to assemble the coffee table treating the wood as I go and Hammeriting the metalwork as well.

 

They sound like Rugosa roses @shiney.

 

It's surprising how much distance is covered by a zoom lens.

Once they get established they can be rampant as you've found out. I had the pink ones in a previous garden but have some young white ones here that are struggling to get going - surprisingly. Blackbirds like to feed off the hips.

 

Not a lot...pouring down!.. I get cabin fever staying indoors so I went and spent ( a tad nippish) morning in the greenhouse.

Checked over all the cuttings and seedlings. All the established overwintering plants are outside snuggled up in the cold frames.

A little Fuchsia cutting has nice buds forming, Bacopa cuttings are blooming as are some Antirrhinum cuttings too.

Early peas are coping well as are the Pelargonium and other Fuchsia cuttings. Various seeds have germinated and progressing well...so all looks very promising...for now.

Nothing today it's raining

 

What would life be like without our greenhouses and garages during the winter months!! While I was in the greenhouse ,hubs was busy in our garage too.

 

We were out planting Allium bulbs as soon as the rain stopped.

 

Me too, so I went to a garden centre this afternoon, it passes the time

I also put some small Yew cuttings into a shelter, I had forgotten about them and they were drowning in a tray of rain.

 

Boring @Upsydaisy! I haven't got a greenhouse here and miss having one. I'm hoping to get outside and move more rocks this coming week - if the snow clears of course.

 

I brought three trays full of Pelargonium cuttings from a cold frame into a warmer conservatory, and I took all the dead leaves off them and drained away the water that had collected in one of them. They will enjoy the rest of the winter in the dry conservatory.
I also brought a tray full of Crassula ovata cuttings into the conservatory from a perspex shelter.
And I planted some Iris reticulata bulbs that I'd forgotten about.
