WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2022

Housework, now that's a dirty word

 

Yeah, I do most of my housework in the garden as well.

 

To put things in context, out of the 16 waking hours of my day off yesterday, nearly three were spent cleaning, most of the others on my bum in the kitchen reading a book. Ditto the Gardening Effort today.

Clearly I'm Superhero material. I might get bedsores if I don't get back to grownups' work soon.

 

I had to cheer myself up doing something positive today after realizing my beautiful Melocactus I've had for many years had crown rot and was to far gone to save

Sown some verbena 'bonariensis' Cynoglossum 'mystery rose' and Rudbeckia.

 

Moved the mower shed to the bottom of the garden, now OH is eyeing up the space for a fish pond!

Was hard work but worth it, the garden seems so much bigger without a big brown blob in the way

 

Pricked out 90 calendula seedlings into toilet roll tubes.

 

I never seem to do anything interesting like you lot do.

 

That's no way to talk about your OH

 

Its been a nice day better than the forecasted rain . Not much today just pruned a couple of roses, noticed I had cut one clematis back hard enough so did that and took some cutting of the bit that were growing and some bacopa cutting . Hoping to do a lot of pricking out tomorrow and maybe sow the tomatoes .

 

Potted on a young Cotoneaster cutting that seems to be very slow growing. Also a young Philadelphus that's growing strongly into a 2 litre pot. Lupin seedlings now transferred to pots too.

 

Potted on some Veranda Red tomatoes into 9cm pots. Sowed some vine tomatoes.

 

Not much garden-wise today. I had seven Dahlia Cactus mixed tubers in a box I had received free with a previous purchase so I potted them up in individual pots and set them out in one of my cold frames.

Too much of a windchill day to get down and dirty with things, so basically just faffed about moving pots and lights. The downside of lights in the garden is always, when it’s really in its element in the summer months, it’s dark way too late to get the full benefit of it. That said, the grasses give good wafty blowey fun all year round, especially the winter months.
