Looks very pretty at night, Malus Aforethought. We’ve some garden lights too, and it does really enhance some of the areas doesn’t it! Looks a nice spot to sit in the evening…with a glass of wine

Yes, Kate. The trick seems to be moving them about as stuff grows and gets prominent. Went down the solar route to begin with, but frankly, they’ve all been a waste of time and money. Investing in a decent lighting system is worth it long term.
Wine outdoors, with multiple layers of clothing, and then some more is the order of the day, evening or night.

Have to agree there, we’ve still a set of solar on our pergola which are hanging on in there..but, we’ve mains lighting now in the back. You’re right, you end up having to replace some solar varieties regularly!
Must also agree with you again - lots of snuggly blankets, our chiminea and wine! What’s not to enjoy!:Wino:

Well, I’ve a glass just now with Peaky Blinders, that’s just finished, and so has the wine funnily enough…there’s always more clothing, there’s always more wine..there’s never enough sun…

Pruned all necessary shrubs including the roses. The roses aren't thriving here so I'll have to consider giving them up.

I'm still out there every day (almost) weeding, cutting back, digging and talking to the birds and the four legged assistant head gardener/supervisor. Yesterday was pruning and thinning out of our overgrown Acer palmatum Katsura (not Cercidiphyllum japonicum Katsura :)) that's in the front garden and then cutting up the resultant debris to fit it in the wheelie bins (ours and our neighbours). It would be a lot more work to barrow it all to the bonfire at the bottom of our back garden and I need to save as much energy as possible :old: :heehee:

We can now get to the area beneath the tree so today will start off with clearing the leaves and weeding under there. We need to dig out a few dozen Campanula that are growing there and box them up for the charity garden centre. They grow like weeds in our garden and we're forever digging them out but we leave large clumps around the garden.

This afternoon it's a choice of doing some gardening or colouring my hair, I should have done my hair yesterday but barley had a upset tummy and didn't want to chance doing it if I had to take him out, but he was ok so waisted a afternoon not doing much.

Why don't you just pop the colour on 20 minutes before your morning shower? Then it's all done, especially for you as you're up at 4am.....why waste an afternoon. :dbgrtmb:

Gardening would always win with me.:planting:

Just stripping our bed and doing a dust and hoover around upstairs then I plan to sort out all the pots into appropriate potting on sizes as pricking out has well and truly started!!

Just carried out the morning ' day out in the greenhouse ' ritual. Must re-gig things around as I'm certain some seedlings can stay out there now. Hmmm have to ponder on that one.

That's a good idea but the colour is on for 30 minutes, have to put a finishing conditioner on and then dry it naturally, then we're back out at 10 am,but thanks. I did some washing and put that out. In between I cut up some toilet roll tubes and fed the hedgehog, watered the seedlings.
It should be nice tomorrow so trim the old stems off the lavender. Hubby is still doing the roses, last Monday he pulled his back pruning them so only just got into it again.

Be careful Upsydaisy especially with kneeling, a friend of mine had an op last summer, was so careful following orders from doctors, doing exercises religiously, sadly its even worse now so poor lass wishes she hadn't had the op....
