Mulched the border under the front hedge - 200 litres of bark mulch - need another couple of bags to finish it off.

Fixed a cheapo B&Q hanging basket bracket to the front side archway - and hung a prepared hanging basket ready for my Petunia Royal Flush - which should arrive in the next month or so. The gauntlet has been thrown down - the chase will now be on to see who has the best looking hanging basket in the cul-de-sac...

It was back to the weeding this morning. I was hand-weeding a section below the front window while the CEO did some hoeing beside our "meadow". I uncovered a host of Ophiopogon planiscapus Niger we had planted for Mum many years ago which I lifted and replanted in a tub.
I was soon called upon to finish the hoeing as my other half was done and by the time I finished the stretch I was the same. I struggled to get up the big step into our side door!

Spent the morning tidying up the greenhouse after I made a mess in there yesterday.:phew:
Sorted out more pots into sizes ready for potting up the new plants.

This afternoon I finished all the sowing for this year.........I think.;)

Oops no I haven't, just remembered I have a few seeds to direct sow tomorrow, now that hubs has weeded another couple of borders. I like to kneel when weeding, but still can't manage that yet.

Tomorrow hopefully I'll also do some more picking out.

Definitely! And they're well fed here but I couldn't do the necessary to put them on the plate. :)

The nearest I got to gardening today was cleaning windows outside. :frown:

I Googled, "The earliest to plant Potatoes UK" and watched a couple of video's.

The guy plant one Seed Potato in each pot.

1, Bought Compost, 2. Green Bin Compost, 3. Garden Soil & 4.The scrapings from a Forest floor.

Each pot had the same amount of B.F.B. The result from all four pots as roughly the same.

OH put the base down for the aluminium greenhouse on Saturday and put up the greenhouse on Sunday. We got this 6x6 free from OH nephew who bought a house before lockdown, I carefully labelled each pane of glass when we dismantled it, but as its been stored outside for over two years, my job (after work) today is to scrape all the labels and sticky mess off the glass! Two panes were missing but have a local glass place who have the size for £8 each so I’ll be picking them up tomorrow, also expecting delivery of a automatic vent opener tomorrow. Plan to grow GH tomatoes for the first time. More lessons to learn and undoubtedly more questions to ask of GC :)

Perhaps I should start another thread, something like: "What are we doing on the balcony today?" :heehee:

I've been potting up some Ivy Geraniums cutting that have spent all winter on the balcony trying to root. As I would like to use them in my hanging baskets this summer thought I really need to pot them & get them to grow into reasonable sized plants before the summer gets here.

The 2 mother plants have survived the winter outside in their baskets & on Saturday I trimmed them back but otherwise left them alone. I've got about 10 plants from the original two. But we will have to wait & see if they survive being transplanted.

I put the cutting in an old tomato growbag & put it under the table on the balcony & that's where they have sat till today. After potting them up I put them in the mini-greenhouse on the table & hopefully they will be big & strong enough to go into the hanging baskets at the end of May.

Put down another 2 bags of bark mulch in the front garden - need another 2 bags to finish it off. There was me thinking that I could get away with just the 2 bags - reality is 6 are needed.

They're not cheap at £10.20 GBP per bag.

Nothing today but yesterday I spent a good few hours out in the garden . I've been turning the turf round where plants have been over hanging the lawn, that took me up to dinner time seen as most of the lawn edge were damaged . I had a muck about in the greenhouse , I spread some compost around but I can't remember what else I did there for the amount of time I was in there  .

Feed and watered the pots outside I always forget in spring.

I got some laurel shrubs to cut back which I may look into tomorrow, I've fell out with my hedge trimmer though it wanted a piece of me and it nearly did have a chunk of my leg.
