As many little garden odd jobs planned today as possible. It's going to have to fit around other jobs!
Managed to sow some brassicas yesterday and want to get the carrots and parsnips sown today, maybe with some clear plastic over the top as the temp might be dropping a touch

Found greenfly on the calendula in the conservatory so put them in the little growing house to harden them off, that might stop them, not much else.

That is one of the benefits of being retired. There are no "school nights". Besides, we had it for elevensies!
There was no special reason. My wife likes Champagne, there was a bottle in the fridge, and nothing pressing to get on with.

Today was bitterly cold so my wife popped out to the workshop/potting shed and stuck the three Peonies that arrived yesterday, in pots, while I stayed in the warm and made coffee.

Preparing for the snow!!! Please let the forecast be wrong :please:

All wrapped up for the next couple of days, sweet peas, tomatoes, chillies, cosmos, tagetes and dwarf French beans. All under propagator lids, in a tomato grow house, in the greenhouse, will add some fleece before bed too,

My other half would like a damson tree to plant by our other fruit trees, but they are thin on those shelves who have them I know it’s late to plant one but would be tub planters in the poly tunnel.

@Tinkerbelle, I've checked our local forecast as we're right on the edge of the yellow warning, ours says rain for the next few days, so fingers xx, mind you past experience tells me to stay vigilant as regards my seedlings so I've been down and replaced the covers...

Not done much on the balcony at all this week!

I did bring in my tray of tomato seedlings last night as we were forecast very low temps, possibly frost. (Didn't happen). I put them out again this morning but had to bring them back in as we were only having a few degrees after some black clouds passed over about 3pm. I've put them in our bedroom for now as its the coolest & lightest place in our flat. I much fear they will have to stay inside all day tomorrow & possibly Friday too. We are forecast possible snow, hail or sleet showers during the next 12 hours.

I potted on some peppers and tomatoes. I also took some cuttings of blackcurrant sage, lemon verbena and petunia.

I've been starting more seeds. And was delighted to see the last of the 4 o'clock tubers breaking "ground" in it's pot. So they are indeed a perennial, not a hardy one but nevertheless, it is just that. I don't remember if I mentioned it but my original 4 o'clocks were all red and I bought new seeds as soon as I discovered this past winter, that they come in other colours. So now I can go forward to selectively grow what colours I want! And yes, the seeds which are to produce plants with various coloured flowers had, indeed, various coatings from dark brown to light... my theory about seed colours might be true!

Here is one of the returning 4 o'clocks.

Again I've done nothing on the balcony. It's too cold & too windy to go outside for more that a minute or two at a time. For that reason I've not put out the tomato seedlings today - I doubt I'll put them out tomorrow either.

I just had a peek at my Bluebells, no buds yet. But my Siberian Scillas have lots of buds, tucked well down inside the foliage for the moment.
