Tricky question. I only sow seeds outdoors directly into pots. I haven't done Impatiens Busy Lizzie from seed only Balsamina which last year was very successful ... so we will see how this year goes as I am earlier this year.

The weather forecast looks better today and for the next few days. It feels warm out right now. I just took my carnivorous plants outside again, and gave them some non-tap water, but kept my Morning Glory "Heavenly Blue" indoors. My stress levels dropped immediately today when I went in the garden and tended my plants, I didn't go in the garden yesterday at all and I missed it.

        I sowed some salad items:
        Swiss chard rainbow mix
        Lettuce little gem
        Spinach America
        Purple spring onion Lilia

Pricked out my mystery tomato seedlings and potted on

The temperatures look fine but we have strong winds coming. Agastache seedlings will just have to see them out.

Voila, the Makeshiftiest of the makeshifts! :heehee:

The grass had it's first cut and now I have elegant stripes in my lawn. Possibly the stripes should not be the tracks of the mower where I missed a bit or where the wheels dug into the muddy soil, but hey-ho, stripes they are

It depends on what's doing the munching. I've never seen a snail or vine weevil here and only a few slugs. My problem is deer and I'm yet to find out what their perennial preference is. :th scifD36:

I've not tried growing the usual Delphinium @CanadianLori. The one I have is Delphinium 'Semibarbatum'.

I've been neglecting the garden and seedling recently with messing about in the house , so today I decided tend to the seedling today. Prickled out quite a lot of plants and watered them , I've got some jack magic compost it a new blend it bloody awful stuff I can't tell if the plants need watering or not doesn't seem to retain moister well either and it gone down to a 50L bag

I got two barrow loads of horse manure off next door  it lovely crumbly stuff . Topped up the tomato / cucumber bed up with one barrow load , and I tidied the strawberry plants up this evening and give them a mulch of manure . I've got some left so may mulch the hot border.

A friend asked me to get him some clematis plants from online it be a shame if I didn't get myself something

Too wet to do anything during the last couple of days, but last week I trimmed dead growth on herbaceous perennials down, pruned buddleias, spiraea, fuchsia and hydrangea. Removed old rose which was neglected and suffered awful dieback as a result, also need to remove a geranium in the same area before I plant an Abelia grandiflora. Then I am pretty much done in the front garden this year, except for the new large butterfly-friendly border and narrow bee-friendly bed I've started, which will be far more creative and enjoyable work!

                      :yay:

We were out finding work to do. My wife moved a couple of tulips that were under the hedge. I enlarged a hole I have prepared for a tree arriving. I strung wires for Sweetpeas to go out shortly and prepared a couple of tubs to put them in. They are now hardening off in the cold frame.
My wife used some Tomorite on some plants. It is her go-to fertiliser.

Potted on some italian cypress into terracotta pots and topped with clay pebbles, potted on various over-wintered things, planted out a couple of small evergreens to fill a couple of gaps. It's nice getting some things out of the wreck of a greenhouse prior to roof removal :)

Today it was pouring rain so we spent time in the potting shed potting up plug plants we received yesterday evening.

I planted out my broad beans that I sowed in the greenhouse back in February.
Spuds are in and so are some onion sets.

Just the blight resistant Toms and the overwintered cuttings of cape gooseberry to go then that is it for this year.
