Back in 2016, I bought a small Christmas tree from Lidl to stand outside our door at the flat we were staying in. After Christmas, I planted The White Spruce in Mum's garden, (where we now stay) and it is still doing well. The photo was taken of the tree newly planted. It has since been moved and is now about twice that size. White spruce Christmas tree newly planted at Danderhall 4-2-17.jpg

I thought my Leontopodium (Edelweiss) in a pot in a conservatory had dried up too much and died, but today I noticed a tiny little green shoot poking up through the old withered leaves .... Hoorrah ! :dbgrtmb:
so I gave it some water

I brought a bag of compost into the house to warm up because I want to repot some cacti and succulents. I'll do them in the kitchen
I'm not doing anything outside yet, it's too cold.

Just before it got dark I took delivery of 80L of compost and four bare-root Oriental poppies. After humphing the compost into my garage/workshop/potting shed I planted out the poppies.

I've moved a couple of dozen rocks today and fought back the Cytisus that's gradually made its way into my garden from the neighbouring field. It's nearly as bad as Gorse and Sycamore for self seeding and growing rapidly. Unfortunately I have to deal with all three. :frown:

It's early days @Logan ,your forecast doesn't look too bad for the rest of the day...cheer up you'll get an opportunity to get out there.

We are dreary and very foggy at the moment but I'm not writing the whole day off yet!

Thank you @Upsydaisy but it won't be today. Also won't be doing anything for the next 2 weeks or so, tomorrow I have my other cataract done.

Think of the spring that won't be too far away now I'm

Oh dear is your forecast wrong too ,like ours is at the moment, you never know it might improve.

Good luck tomorrow, it will be good to get it sorted and done with.

At least you'll be able to start some seeds off if you're planning on some early sowing.:dbgrtmb:

                  Roll on Spring!.

@Logan you mentioned in the seed thread that you had loads of Chillies, so you wouldn't need to do any for a few years, I hope the frost didn't ruin them.

No it didn't, I've got last years in the freezer and yes as I said I don't need to grow any this year but I can't help it, I'll have to grow a few plants. I always grow new plants each year, sometimes they get aphids when in the conservatory and the only way is to clear all the plants and start again.

Completed assembly and installation of our new cold frame. We also moved the old frame to a more suitable spot. I then installed my LED Growing lamp and ordered new handgrips for the wheelbarrow. All in all, a fruitful day.

Very modest seed sowing indoors, herbs (Basil, Oregano, Thyme and a trial of Lemongrass) in pots that they'll stay in in the kitchen and perennials (Giant white Agastache) in modules. The chillies (Patio Sizzle, Hungarian Black and Basket of fire) have germinated so the first set of grow lights are on. Hello-o spring, goodbye view from windows :heehee:
