Potted up melon, cucumber and squash plants, repotted some polygonatum, watered as required and sowed some more sunflower seed (Velvet Queen)

First job on the list is to empty out the small planters of their fading Tulip greenery ( all Tulips will be rehomed into a big pot to continue their.....'fading' :heehee:). Then planters will be refilled with fresh compost and new plantings.

Then it's on to the border that has been revamped a bit ( lots of old plants and shrubs removed last Autumn). At the moment it's overflowing with Nigella seedlings so some drastic thinning out is required to make room for some of the new Dahlias +other plants.

That will keep me out of mischief making this morning....hopefully ;).

Did two of the Tulip planters, planting up with ( hopefully, as I've seemingly lost the labels ) short container Antirrhinums , Lobelia and Gypsophilia .

Separated the Tulips from the Daffs and the other no name plant and repotted to allow them to fade away gracefully.:blue thumb:

It's now way too hot in my potting area so just doing dinner and cooling off.:)

I am glad to see you don't shave your legs. Besides, according to our rules, it's too early. We joke that women don't shave until the playoffs (hockey) are over!

I'm going to be carrying on tidying up my dirty stuff out there. Hmm, sounds like a comedy :heehee:

The garden is looking neat and attractive. A calming place to sit.

Very hot here so I did some weeding and cutting back bluebells under the tree. Finally finished planting up hanging baskets

Busy day today. We cleared out tubs of Daffodils putting them into whatever free space of ground we could. We then took delivery of a load of plants which we planted out and I planted out a few of my perennials which had started off as plugs. The roots were brilliant which I put down to the Rootgrow I had added to every pot.

The plants from Parkers (million bells) have just started flowering and are all a wishy washy pink although the picture on the advert showed a variety of colour. So when Mrs Shiney went to check on the plant sale we had given a car full of plants to she picked up a variety of them that were different colours, twice the size and half the price. She has now put them in 16" hanging baskets which were rather heavy for lifting into place.

I've now moved a dozen of the patio pots that contained daffs and tulips to a nursery area out of the way. Other pots are being done with annuals so that they can take their place.

I dug out more nasty large weeds around the rabbit fence and only filled half a wheelie bin before the heat defeated me.

We're now spending an hour a day watering, with the hose, plants under cover and in pots. Rain is finally forecast for this evening :fingers crossed: which should cut the time by half.

People coming round this morning to buy plants. Unfortunately they have closed the end of the road they would come from and the detour is an extra ten miles. So I shall have to meet them and show them the very complicated 'short' route - windy roads, single track sections over the river, a lock and the railway and lots of 'sleeping policemen'.

Weeded veg plot, sowed peas, carrot and parsnip. Watered veg, then it rained later.

Up early, couldn’t sleep! So went out and carried on from yesterday. Raked up around the trees where I trimmed the grass around the edges, cleared out the bluebells from under the trees. Moved some cowslips, planted aubrieta where the cowslips had been, drowned four clay pots with thyme in them that had completely dried out (may survive?), set up brick stands in front of the greenhouses for four potato buckets that I am going to use for tomatoes, I’ll plant them out later. Fed the dogs :doggieshmooze: and now in bed warming up with a cuppa.

:yikes: I only went through December and January without barbecuing. Had to shovel snow a couple of times or so to get to the grill but am curious as to what prevented you from barbecuing up to now?

I got lots of tidying done yesterday and only have a small amount left to do before it starts raining sometime late tonight. Guess that means pretty much a puttering in the garden day

Sowed 60 more wallflower seeds in the toilet roll tubes, that's 240 so far.
