I haven't got anything to do, the garden mostly takes care of itself at this time of year.

Same here too ,nothing much to do, so we've been out again for the day and have just got back.
What we are doing in the garden now is sitting out having a lovely cup of tea. :coffee::coffee:

Well I've got plenty to do, the garden is full of weeds enjoying the rain, and the whole place is so wet it's horrible trying to pull them up.
And things are so overgrown they badly need cutting back, but it's too wet to do it.

However I did manage to pot up my three Lewisias that have been waiting pot-less for a few weeks. I did it in my little covered potting area

Well, if you're having withdrawal symptoms you can always come up here and do some gardening. It's a never ending job.

EU directive? A classic case of bureaucrats who know nothing about farming practices sticking their oars in. Or equally likely the ecolos in the French government. Ditto ditto...

Picked tomatoes and blackberries, cut down two shrubs that have been disappointing since planting some years ago, in both cases flowers disappointing, growing too large, foliage no autumn or spring colour.

We sat out with a Rum & Coke (me) and J a beer or two. Now in to have Bolognese and Garlic bread then back out for an hour ... as we are down to 29c (high of 33c).

I got nowhere with my seedlings after much time chilling in the fridge then nuturing.

That's a shame @Victoria, maybe you could find some plants. I've never tried the seeds, never seen them actually but I wouldn't mind giving then a go.

I dont think you are going to get anywhere with Lewisia, it needs a cool but sunny alpine type environment.

I spent about an hour this morning feeding all my plants - both inside as well as outside on the balcony. Then this afternoon I spent the best part of another hour outside on the balcony. It is a nice pm to be outside! It's warmer today & with the sun on the balcony it's really lovely to be outside even if I have done really is deadheading the Petunias & Geraniums.

I also tried to reorganize - once again - the pots on the balcony floor. Alongside the 3 growbags with tomato plants in them I had put lots of 9cm pots of Carnation seedlings. As they are in perpetual danger of getting knocked over I wanted to put them somewhere else - but where? Then I decided to put them on top of the growbags. I removed a few of the very lowest leaves on the tomato plants & now the Carnations will get the same amount of light as before but now there is no danger of me kicking them over while trying to do something else on the balcony! :)

I moved around the 2 pots of Clivias as I don't think in their old position they got very much sunshine. Now that I have moved them from the front of the balcony back towards the growbags they will get better light as well as more sunshine during the afternoons. It was also necessary to do this as the 'Morning Glory' plants are now climbing up the balcony railings & next week will start to climb up the strings. When this happens the front on the balcony, i.e., the 2nd row of pots, will get a lot less light.

There's things that need doing but haven't got round to doing them. There's a lot of weeding and finish potting on the wallflowers. But i did pick more currants.
