Too hot (29C) to water today ironically, but needs must. Fifty minutes of hosing and watering can later, job done but seriously, enough was enough!

Spent an hour or so spraying my gravel drive with weedkiller. It's usually done just once a year but with all the rain this summer the weeds were back.

Pruned the Buddleja, as it's finished flowering.

I haven't done anything else but watering for the last few days! Now that I no longer have Petunias on the balcony railings there is no longer need to deadhead them! But the Morning Glories need deadheading every day now. They are doing better this year than they have done for several years previously! :dbgrtmb:

The hanging baskets are looking the worse for wear as the majority of the Lobelias are going over.

Yesterday morning I spent from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. harvesting in the veg plots and then set the sprinkler up to try and keep the veg going as a lot of leaves on the beans are beginning to drop. At my Tuesday afternoon club I sold all 20lb of beans and some chilli plants and Hebes. So another £62 for the charity. I don't take many plants in each Tuesday but the funds are gradually climbing and have handed over £1125 so far this year :blue thumb:

Early evening I picked a load of Conference pears, my favourite, so those don't get sold. :)

I've already done my morning stint of bean picking (Mrs Shiney has to pick the courgettes and tomatoes as I'm allergic to the leaves of those - brings me up in a rash :dunno:).

In one bed Mrs Shiney planted out a lot of replacement plants for those lost in the big freeze and I have now put the sprinkler on it. I was followed, as usual, by two blackbirds who always follow me when I go to put the sprinkler out as they immediately dodge in and out of the spray as soon as it is on. I think the spray brings worms to the surface for them but I don't see that part and it looks as though they are just playing.

Early this morning finished the weeding around the path in the front garden before it got too hot and hubby cut a bit more of the pyracantha hedge.

I cut the Grass at the top of the garden, I know I shouldn't complain, but, God was it hot.

I sowed some Bellis seeds for flowering next spring. I may sow some Wall flowers soon. I don't want to leave it too late.
I potted up my new Leontopodium which came buried deeply in soggy compost. I tipped it out of the pot a few days ago and put it to dry ... and then couldn't find it, but I did find it eventually, today, and it was fine, so I planted it in a pot.

It's been too hot to do anything else.

Thanks for reminding me Michael, must sow some Bellis too.:)

Watered everywhere today, continued deadheading and seed harvesting and cut back a few plants that are now well and truly over.

Thankfully :yahoo: the forgotten about and very limp looking Lettuces are fully revived after a good watering.

Mowed lawn this evening and wonder round the garden with some secatuers doing lots of deadheading . Wisteria turned up the other day some got that planted and I been potting on some plants grown from seed into larger pots , some are sanguisorba menziesii  are similar species and nepeta Govoinia and the odd other .

It has been nice and warm today and its about time , its annoying me though its melting my choc biscuits before I get chance to dunk them in my brew :gaah:

Yet another day of nothing else but watering! I did deadhead the Morning Glory plants and a few other plants but that is all I did on the balcony.

At about 4pm I went to the church gardens and repeated what I had done on the balcony in the morning, minus the Morning Glory bit! That I change for Calendulas & African Marigolds. An hour or so I was doing that as well as some weeding among the Pelargoniums alongside the side parh.

Firstly check greenhouse, then have a look at a couple of things. Then really must do the shredding and sweep up around the decking and path.

Just cut down one of my "dead" cordylines, the bark was falling off below the bunch of dead leaves, the top still had some green decent leaves.
I was cutting it up and removing the dead leaves to put it all in the garden bin when I noticed a few roots coming out the stem under the leaves.
So I've replanted the top section to see if it roots or rots.

I spent at least half an hour just deadheading the Morning Glory flowers, mostly from yesterday, this morning!

I watered the majority of the plants on the balcony including the hanging baskets, even though I water them yes evening. We are expecting 30C at least today so I thought that being as they are up in the air some more water before the day gets hot would do them good.

About 11.30am the bottle of fertilizer I had to buy online, because I can't find any downtown, arrived but it was too late to use today so I will give the plants a feeding tomorrow.
