MY mum wants some , I usually make crumbles with them but if I can be bothered I may branch out to something else or freeze them which I've not done before. I'll give some to some of the neighbours as well.

I met Marion and Barry and we went to Geoffrey's. I gave Geoffrey some tulip bulbs and i planted them in his garden. Showed Marion how to dig up forget me nots with enough roots to plant in front of the tulips.

          Autumn jobs v.2.

Amusingly, our neighbourhood got together for a synchronised lawn mowing at 3pm. It was like one of those fashionable flash mobs, (This is a good one, enjoy! ) with us all getting alerted by the sound and the joining in one after another. :)

I also harvested a huge load of Cosmos for indoors vases, I dislike cutting flowers but if the night brings a nasty turn I will curse myself for leaving them out to die. The vases look lovely :)

Plucked some Frogbits out of the pond into a bowl, it's a nice plant but curls up unexpectedly sinking into the bottom to overwinter just to be scooped up with the leaf debris and never to be seen again, until the next spring online purchase of replacements

Swept around and fitted the grow lights over the kitchen shelving (after cleaning the plants and the shelving of dust and whatnots, Good Girl Me  ) and the hatchery in the living room where Semprevivums, quite nice Ice plants and Bamboos have just germinated.

That's the season nearly done for me, now it's finger tapping time until the first proper seed sowing starts after Christmas :)

            Hi,

First frost this morning; warm weather over now until next June?

            Thanks for the flash mob link @Selleri we've watched lots of these. :dbgrtmb: This is also excellent;

Well we need something to watch during winter when we can't get into the garden. :)

            Kind regards, Colin.

This month, so far, we have been busy cutting back shrubs, doing lots of weeding (weeds seem to be quite happy growing like mad whilst the plants struggle and need watering), pressure washing paving and also spraying with Wet and Forget and still having to cut lawns every week and trimming the edges :phew:

We moved here 51 years ago because we wanted a bigger garden and have really loved working on it and taking it from an overgrown neglected jungle to what it is today The house wasn't quite derelict but also need a lot of work, which was the reason we could get it at a reasonable price. We're now finding it a lot harder than it used to be for some reason :old: :heehee: and need help for some of the heavier work.

                  Some of our lawns:-

Some need mowing every week and others every two weeks.

I'm making a new edge to this one
                  P1580857.JPG

This is our wild area that only gets cut from October until March and only once a month. There are four blackberry beds in it that I pruned back last week. Bonfire heap in the background.

Our main front lawn and we have two smaller ones
                  P1580916.JPG

Working on the paving. This was a more neglected area behind the greenhouse
                  P1580840.JPG

A part of our patio :phew:
                  P1580841.JPG

We have had to wait some months to burn the bonfire as the field behind it had crops in it. They harvested the other week but the wind wasn't in the right direction for setting fire to it until yesterday. Once I get it started the neighbour chucks his stuff over the fence for me to add to it.

These two trees died in the freeze last winter and we have grown clematis up them
                    P1580843.JPG

There was another tree to the left of them which we removed last week and put on the bonfire. The area under the trees was totally overgrown and we have dug and weeded and are deciding what to plant there. The ground is hard to dig because of no rain for two months (got some this last few days)
                    P1580842.JPG

Another area that was overgrown has been worked on by Gary who now does the awkward and heavy work. I can't work there because I'm not able to do work whilst bent overunderneath trees and shrubs
                    P1580853.JPG

And he cut out another dead tree
                    P1580854.JPG

Another area Gary cleared was under these trees which were completely overgrown with ivy and other nasties. Part of the next time he comes along he will straighten out those paving slabs

You're still going strong and enjoying it @shiney :blue thumb: that's all that matters .

I've had one of them sunday unsure what to do with myself , I did go out with the intention to make another box for overwintering dahlia tubers in , could I find that piece of wood I'd need to do the project :wallbanging: kind of just strolled around until I ended up in the GH . Picked the last of the Tomatoes and got rid of the plants. It froze last night even though the forecast had changed to lows of 2C but everything was white this morning , all the dahlia not near the house have been blackened but not totally it a bit harder to tell with the dark leaf variety's , I'll know by tomorrow whether I'll lift them are persevere with them.

Planted a few beech trees for next doors hedge , she popped round later with a ice cream can't complain :)

Had a day off today...to go to a rare plant fair  Pure happiness.....
Then, the cerise sur le gâteau, stopped off at the big garden centre in Agen to discover that it was 15% off day.
Managed to get the soft fruit plants in (strawberries, raspberries and kiwi fruit) before it got dark. I've got a couple of days before the rain arrives to plant all the ornamentals :)

Dug up all the Tigridia's and hung them up to dry off before storing for the Winter.
Dug up, despite still having loads of blooms sadly , some Cosmos Purity and Zinnias as a necessity because my Wallflowers just had to go in the ground. These are to replace a few of my old ones that were either too old or had succumbed to last year's cold Winter..

Bagged up ( well enveloped up really) some more harvested dried seeds

Potted up the first of the Fuchsias for overwintering.

Emptied out a couple of spent wall baskets.
