      Just had the people from the Fox project come round an set a trap in my garden, for over a week now I've been having one fox come into the garden with no fur on its back or tail, probably mange, and what appears to be a broken front leg.

      Within 10 minutes I managed to catch Ginger the cat,:biggrin: I think it going to be difficult to get the right one.

        Well, just caught him, covered the trap and they are going to pick him up within the hour.

          Funny you should mention ginger cats, I have one here, about the size of a full grown fox, which waits outside just like the foxes do!
          All of the basils seem in exceptional health this year, no mange or damage(yet).
          Mind you, they eat better than I do!

            @pete that's great news.
            Took down my hanging baskets gave them a good trim and put them in the greenhouse with the rest of the fuchsias.

              They have just come and taken the fox away, first thing she said when she took the cover off the cage was the smell of the mange, I smelt it earlier but thought it was one of the old sheets I had found in the shed to cover the trap with.

              Apart from the bad front leg he had a nasty looking eye that I hadn't noticed from a distance, if they can get him sorted they will bring him back to let him go, but I think it depends on the outcome of the leg and eye as to whether he can go back in the "wild".

                As usual, I'm digging and weeding and, possibly, in another 50 years or so I might start gaining on the weeds - but I doubt it. :whistle:

                    They really do their best for them, but I think sometimes they cant save them, hopefully this one was surprisingly able with all its problems, they said they would be in touch.

                      Hi,

                      Shopping first thing this morning then another trip to the tip with a full wet load; it's rained all day again but after dinner I spent the whole afternoon getting a problem sorted out with BT bringing me up to 5:30 then it was tea time; it's too late and dark now to get involved with anything so I'll settle down to a Netflix TV series with Bron before bedtime; in a way it's been a successful day today in spite of two soakings.

                      My new waterproof gloves arrived today as did the big heavy duty bags I bought for transporting garden debris to the tip; so shopping done; trip to the tip and TV sorted out; tomorrow I don't care if it snows I'm going ivy hunting wearing my new gloves; I've declared all out war on our ivy.

                      Kind regards, Colin.

                        I was in and out all day trying to miss the worse of the rain, despite being fully geared up in my waterproofs the area I wanted to focus on was extremely soggy. I did however manage to finish digging up the last remaining Geraniums and pot them up for the Winter. Collected up the fallen fruit and picked the few remaining apples from one tree, the other apple tree is very heavy with fruit still as is the pear tree will try and pick those tomorrow.

                          Nothing today but yesterday I made a wooden box out of scrap wood for storing plants dahlias etc in over winter. Actually I did do something today I sprayed the lawn with some iron sulphate / sulphur to green it up and harden the lawn for the coming winter . Can't be doing with this early nights driving me bananas already , should just leave it at British summer time

                              Nothing. The Boy visited and went to the allotment though, and returned here bearing butternut squash, beetroot, cavolo nero, leaving after with a fine specimen of squash to roast.
