Finished another smaller border and sowed another tray this afternoon. Agree @Logan it was very cold or rather the wind chill was, especially this afternoon

@Upsydaisy hubby started pruning the roses but found it too cold, in the front garden when that cold wind blows it's terrible, even with layers of clothing.

Yes we are in a wind tunnel here where we live and it cuts straight through our garden. I was dressed like a Michelin (wo) man. :roflol:

Just a case of wrapping up well and hoping we don't get any visitors :roflol:.
It's worth it as I always feel so much better and energised.:dbgrtmb:

Just sown some canna seeds not because I need more cannas but because I'm curious as to their growth from seed.

Made a lot of soil blocks for tomorrow's scheduled sowing and rolled up the vinyl in the living room since I have now moved all the pots out from there. Now to put the furniture back where it belongs!

I do the vaccuming and a bit of dusting, a bit of cleaning.

Walking the boys takes up a lot of time and looking after hubby at the moment.

No i haven't got many hobbies. When I'm not doing those things i watch YouTube about gardening and cooking.

Oops, they are not filed - oh well, I'm not in a big hurry for germination. Think I'll keep track of how long it takes without - hopefully it will be a lesson I don't forget!

As the orchid compost arrived so quickly yesterday I spent an hour repotting the 3 I have in the kitchen. The worst one was obviously the oldest one I had which must be around 4-5 years old. (No, its 7 years old, I just found some photos of it that Google had backed up!) It is yellow & has flowered for me every year. It came with 2 scapes & was only the 2nd one I ever had up till then. I remember that in January 2017 my wife & I bought a small Orchid with lovely white flowers that was greatly reduced in Wilko's. It died I think after a couple of months.Certainly the flowers fell off a short time after we got it home.

In the next couple of years we were given a couple more plants & they continue with us. Every year they have flowered as well. As the yellow one was in such a bad condition when I repotted it I very much doubt it will flower again this year - that is even if it survives! Lots of the roots were totally rotten & I had to cut them way.

I began with the youngest & smallest of the plants. Fortunately its roots were in better condition. I repotted all 3 back in the pots they came out off after giving them a wash in hot soapy water.

I was watching some videos on YouTube a couple of days ago about how to go about the operation. So starting with the smallest one seemed to be the best way to start. As it's something I've never done before - (being scared of killing them!) - I thought if I can do this one well the others shouldn't be much of a problem. The 2nd one was also in better condition than I expected though I did have to remove a few roots that were rotten. One thing I discovered was that the last two plants they had put Sphagnum moss in them! The yellow one especially had it packing the sides of the pot!

Once I had put the new compost in the plants looked so much better!

One of the videos I watched was in Spanish! But 2 others were Americans. All 3 had different ways of going about how they treat Orchids! The last one I watched was a lady who worked in an Orchid facility (Can't remember where now) & I thought she must know the very best way of doing it - but I liked how the Spanish guy did it best. He not only shows you what to do but shows you the same plants some months later! If you don't understand Spanish then it wouldn't do you much good to watch him! As I understand Spanish perfectly it was no problem for me!
