Planted out 2 Echinacea plants and 1 Dicentra.

Moved 5 tubs of Tulips out from the nursery area and into their display positions.

Very windy out there, hopefully it will die down this afternoon and I will get to plant out Mixed Tigridia and Gladioli Butterfly, Belinda bulbs.....in between heavy rain showers.:fingers crossed:

I've seen Dahlia cutting being taken from the tuber but it's not something I've ever done myself. Yet I remember on one of the Gardener's World programmes, last year I think, a guy who grew them & nothing else on his allotment, showed:blue thumb: us the difference between plants grown from tubers & those grown from cuttings. I was most surprised to see how the plants, & their flowers, were so much better than from tubers!

I did manage to plant some of the Tigridia bulbs ,but not all of them before torrential rain arrived.

So busying myself in the greenhouse now checking over the few remaining potted Dahlias. The Giant Lillies are beginning to send up shoots now too.

Washing a few more pots out ready to use in potting on soon.

I've been pricking out and potting on some seedling - antirrhinums about 80 - Pelargoniums Ivy - coleus and some petunias . I would of liked to leave the Antirrhiniums in the GH but with minus temperatures forecast again this weekend they are in the house instead . Managed to get them done between the 1st and 2nd coat of painting a ceiling .

I take dahlia cutting sometimes when pinching the tips out if they are long enough , they'll not take if the stems are hollow. New stems aren't hollow but I find it easier to just buy tubers even though the flower is a bit better on cutting raised plant.

Never grown Tigridia. I tidied up a pot of african queen lilies while waiting for the rain to stop they are shooting as well, Could do to put them outside

With rain forecast for all but one day in the foreseeable future I will have to face getting a bit wet I think, otherwise nothing will get done.

I need to find a nice sheltered place to move the giant Liiies to but will leave their move out of the greenhouse until next week as the temps are dipping a bit over the weekend.

I must slug and snail check on all the insitu Dahlias as I noticed a couple of weeks ago that some are beginning to throw up shoots ....
keeping everything crossed that they all survived our cold Winter :fingers crossed::fingers crossed:

Need to pot up some of the salads...Lettuce, Chillies and Radishes.

As the ground is so wet, I'll use it as an opportunity for some easy weed removals today.:heehee: :blue thumb:

No sign on our dahlias, in fact some have been dug out a bit and presumably nibbled by critters.
Have planted out a few ferns but not feeling motivated.
It gets worse - Erica has just snaffled the last hot cross bun!

Dad not been to good today dodgy knee / back so haven't been to work . I've had today at home in the garden been moving some plants around mainly some Salvia verticillta and other bits and bobs , was hoping to get a few more perennials planted but a label has gone missing on a aster so I'll have to wait until it starts growing . Chomped back some ivy with hedge trimmer and attacked some honeysuckled , and cut back various other plants
Manged to get the roses fed and mulched along with the rhubarb

Sowing more seeds in greenhouse. Outside weeding, weeding, weeding and starting to hoe the beds. Bought more plants so they needed to be planted.

All the remaining bulbs were planted yesterday...finally. Potted up remaining cucumbers, lettuces etc...just the Spring Onions taking their time, but all have germinated.:blue thumb:

Started moving a few things around in the borders...hope to continue that today.

Still willing some Hebes to show signs of life....but to be honest it's not looking very hopeful.

Good day to be out there as rain isn't forecast until about 4ish this afternoon.:hapydancsmil:

Just cut the grass, mostly worm casts and mud,but there were some tufty bits that will hopefully spread out over the next few weeks and create a luscious dark green lawn by summer.
I'm in one of my less pessimistic moods this morning. :)
