That's another one that doesn't like my garden, I can never get it to grow, neither in the ground or in pots.

I've been gradually working on lawn edges and the removal of of very invasive plants. :blue thumb: I think they're winning!

In the last two weeks I've filled six wheelie bins with mainly moss, Arums (hundreds of them), green Lysimachia nummularia (creeping Jenny) and a goodly range of bugloss, nettles (have suddenly burst into leaf), baby thistles, chickweed, buttercups, goosegrass, couchgrass, dandelions and ground elder is just beginning to show.

The ground was just right for digging but is now getting a bit too soggy.

No mowing for me yet as the lawns are in too much of a mess after two days with tree surgeons traipsing to and fro carrying and dragging all their spoils. Lots of mud and no grass! :rolleyespink: At least we don't have to worry about getting the garden looking good as we are no longer going to open the garden to the public. :noidea:

@Dahlia Queen . I couldn't resist showing a picture that included Dahlias :heehee:. We don't grow many of them and tend to only grow The Bishop's Children as they're single petalled and the bees much prefer them. :) We have quite a few of them we grow in pots on the patio.

@shiney, yes did smile to see fabulous dahlias too. I grow lots of bishop too and currently have a tray of seedlings for bishops children and another with black beauty. I have some decorative and dinner plate but the majority are the singles, the anemone and loads of Honka’s. Anything I can grow for bees and butterflies is always my goal. Hope to see photos of your bishops and cosmos this year. Bet it will all look stunning

I'm not sure how much, if any, we shall grow this year as we may be short of time. The winter was a disaster in our garden and we reckon we have lost over 100 shrubs, perennials and even trees! We shall be spending our time working on all those.

That’s so sad @shiney. Such a large number. Good luck with it and let’s hope weather is kinder this winter. Not that we want to think about that yet. Spring is so full of optimism so shall stick with that

Pulled everything out that has been overwintering in the greenhouse this morning ,they are all currently enjoying an airing and a drink.
I have altered things around so that hopefully after tonight( low, ish, temp) all the seedlings will be able to remain in their daytime places with fleece coverings if needed. I've also rigged up some makeshift shading out of finer fleece that can be easily rolled out .

Keeping fingers crossed that some, if not all, of the indoor trays of seedlings will be able to join the others over the next few weeks.

Now the real problems starts...trying to fit everything back inside the greenhouse ...neatly!!

Peas out of the greenhouse to harden off, cut back a dead colquhounia to 6" off the ground and now it has until mid summer to shoot from the base, cut back a salvia and gave a severe lopping to an enthusiastic buddleja.
Also realised that the Ceratostigma willmottianum may have had it. it's reduced to 3" in height, still firm in the ground though so it has until mid summer to show life.

I got my broad bean plants out of the cold frame this morning and surprised how leggy they have grown with no heat.
It must be the lack of sunshine, they are 8ins high and flopping all over the place.

I've got a small area where the A. striatula was and the Callistemon next to it, I've cut them both back to the ground and given up on them, time for a change, but the whole area is infested with ivy.
I've sprayed it but thinking I might be too early for it to be effective.

The hope is to get rid of it and plant a few gingers there, its a warm/hot spot.

Just come in from having the whole day in the garden.

I 'm now the proud owner of a very tidy and organised greenhouse, and I can take all the credit...on this very rare occasion!!
I must admit that despite the greenhouse being my domain, hubs usually is the one who ends up tidying it up.
He has to walk past it to get to our compost area and it ends up bugging him so much that it's guaranteed he will give in and sort it. ;).Usually when I'm out.
Bless him, he's a true :star:.
