With the forecast thunderstorms I guess I shan't be doing much in the garden today but although it's still dark outside the birds seem to be practicing for a concert. :)

Dashed to greenhouse just to check and water a couple of things. Found an unlabeled pot of seedlings and I have no idea what they are :doh: Hopefully I shall recognise them as they get bigger

Spent most of day on laptop indoors but did visit Remus Nautilus a couple of times in greenhouse. He was in charge of checking on seed germination and dahlia sprouting progress. Also spent time with my chickens. Rained all day and still raining. Want some sunshine at once!

@Dahlia Queen Your Cosmos seedlings look very good & sturdy as well! I like them as well & some years ago I grew on my allotment a new one that was being trailed & I loved them!

:spinning:Thanks @Balc, some of them are very large now and I’m running out of room to prick out. Will go straight out into borders and pots as soon as the weather warms up enough so there’s more room for recently sown ones to spread out a little.
Sounds interesting re trials. which new one was it?
Love cosmos for the pollinators and how long they flower. Looks like I have about 20 different packets this year, maybe more:biggrin:

With the forecast not too bad now I planted out all my salads and early brassicas. All tucked up under fleece for the foreseeable. That's 75% of my veg beds full, will be May before I plant out anything else I think.

One thing I noticed was that were barely any slugs, here's hoping those cold snaps were bad for them. Last spring was appalling for them after the mild winter

I went to look in the photos on my computer but being as it's a new PC. only a couple of months old, I didn't have them on here. So I went to Google Photos to look for them as well but couldn't find these particular ones, I did find others, but not the ones I was looking for.

As I started to reply here their name came to mind! :) They were called 'Seashells', but I no longer remember what seed company they were from. :( Perhaps 'Kings', but I'm not sure. If I could find the original photos, which must be on my old machine still, perhaps I may have a picture of the seed packet.

Do you think it's rather late to sow some now? I think they will probably flower, won't they?

Fabulous @Balc, love seashells and I do grow those. Not too late to sow, I started another bunch of trays about a week ago and all germinated in 2 days. Bet they flower in May onwards. Never too late when you think you can direct sow outside in April / May. Some good dwarf ones available now for pots so sown loads of those too of course.

The weather allowed me into the garden today, the first time since the beginning of November. Cleared some debris from the lawns, twigs, cones etc. and pruned a few shrubs, those that the deer haven't already seen too. Indoors I started off a couple of trays of seeds, no more than that this year.

Going to be mainly a greenhouse day, seeds to sow and need to rearrange stuff, repot, topdress etc.
Ground is going to be too wet to do much in the garden.
