I pricked out the last of the Cosmos seedlings into plastic trays that bedding plants come in. This is the 2nd time I've used them this year! I may still use them for a 3rd time yet as I have half a tray of Carnation seedlings to prick out still. I didn't have enough small pots to do them yesterday. I should have a lot of these small pots somewhere but after tidying things away a couple of weeks ago I can't find them any longer!

After pricking out the Cosmos & Carnation seedlings I had to make room in the mini-greenhouse for them so they are protected from the wind and sun for a few days while they get established. Not an easy task as the trays are paper thin and with the weight of the compost just watered they twist every which way! I also had to stand on tip toe, especially to reach the top shelf.

The small of my back was hurting from the effort of pricking out the seedlings & I had to stop several times to stretch it a bit. Reaching up to the 2 shelves to try to put the twisting trays in was painful.

Back outside for me been taking a few pictures this morning and ordered a few more plants . Emptying pots last night looks like a battle has commenced didn't pack up it went dark around 10pm , just a few more pots/troughs to do today and to label the bulbs and store them out of the way until they dried off .

Cut down a patch of comfrey and mulched the first earliest with it. Then harvested a few of the garlic in the greenhouse. If you want an early garlic I can recommend "primor" the other couple varieties in the gh need a week or two more, outside is a bit more behind.

I've been out here since just after 8am and have done a lot really considering how warm it is .:phew:
A lot more planting out has been done , all the Irises that are spent have been deadheaded. Finally got round to planting out a few more roses that I grew from cuttings taken 3 years ago from my parent's garden.
Deadheaded ( my favourite summer task!! :)) the Welsh Poppies and Cosmos.
Staked ( before it became a needed requirement.:blue thumb:) the Campanula.

I did attempt to do a bit more after lunch but it really is to hot without any shade .

So I will chill out under the sun parasol for an hour and see how it feels then.

                    Hi,

Stick with it @wiseowl you'll win and it'll look good.

I think I was one of the first to use Benjamin Moore paint here in the UK being delighted it was now available it being an American paint.

                    Aura® Exterior

It must be seven years ago I gave our bungalow exterior a comprehensive makeover using five and a half gallons of the paint shown at the link and an American gallon is less than our Imperial gallon; it still looks perfect showing best quality paint is cheapest long term; I even used it to paint both garden huts costing around £300 at the time; I was fed up of our UK timber preservative washing off in under a year.

                    Finished front _0004.JPG
Paint still like new; it brought tears to my pocket at the time but now I've a big smile on my face.

                    New steps_0005.JPG

I made two of these identical garden huts; the other half way up our mountain; I made them to last costing about £400 each in materials.

                    Bench May 2022_0001.JPG
Drop of paint left over so I used it.

It's nice to see someone else doing some painting; top marks.

                    Kind regards, Colin.

                              Hi,

Thanks @wiseowl I'm sure your paint job will come out well because you'll do your best; it's a good time of year to do the painting because usually it's a washout with our climate. Good luck.

                              Kind regards, Colin.
