        Hi,

Anyone interested in adopting our dirty pigeons together with their constant mess; if so I'll be happy to keep our oak tree after all I too feel sad having to dispose of it; it's a tree I'd have liked to keep.

We have a second oak tree higher up the garden which I'm happy to keep.

Live here with the constant daily mess and be happy with the pigeons? It's so easy to pass judgement on others.

        Kind regards, Colin.

So how many years has the tree been there, and how many years have the pigeons been nesting in it.
Anyone who would cut down a full grown tree because of two pigeons needs to get real.
I just get the feeling you just like cutting down trees and making a fuss about it.

Nowt. Plenty of rain over the last few days and too hot to be gardening.

Been a busy grafter the past couple of days, I've been lifting the stone flags and relaying them level , it were a bit warm for the this job as everyone liked to remind me got back ache and arm ache today.
I did have a few concrete flags mixed in with the stone flags, the stone with the crowbar on and the stood up stone are new stone added and a few extra round the edge. You can just see the path drop off ( about 4inch drop ) behind the stood up stone . I do want to put a pergola over this part of the garden so did need levelling up. DSC_0841.JPG

Need to cut a few stone stone for the gaps
              DSC_0844.JPG
It took most of the day yesterday but got there in the end, that big stone weighed a ton and it pancaked my best bucket full of soil  its in the first pic look how round it is :cry3:. It actually rained as well obliviously when I've got hold of the big stone I could barely move it after with muddy gloves . I've just laid them on builders sand the weight of them holds them in place.

Today just cleaned out some of the older pointing so I can try and point the whole area this week sometime, I hate pointing and I am useless at it . And I've been pottering around the garden watering , pricked out some seedling and potted on some nepeta cutting. Did a bit of tidying in the bog garden and cleaned up a Pampas grass old flower stems . And emptied two pots I was sure would disintegrate they been heavy damaged by the frost , they not last past this year.

@Retired It could have been worse, you could have seagulls rather than pigeons and there's better eating on a pigeon than a seagull.
Now their tree has gone where have they moved to? Hopefully not the bungalow roof or the car port.
Do hope you checked for their nest and and any other nests there might have been.

More stuff in the greenhouse, planted out sweetcorn. Tidied a lot of pots of seeds and bulbs that had failed to show signs of life, some have been sat there for a couple of years. Last, now flowered sprouting broccoli moved to compost heap, last of broad beans picked and plants removed to compost.

Nothing, just enjoying a coffee in the last bit of shade before it vanishes.
Too hot for much else at the moment so it's library book and feet up time out here, for now.

Garlic had all fallen over so I thought I might as well dig it up and get it dried off. 20230613_110957.jpg

I now feel worthy of my reward....tea and a ( melting) chocolate digestive. :yahoo:
