          Quite agree

I've put a lot of extra potatoes ready for roasting and shall pig out on them (with apologies to pigs :love30:).

I've changed the menu :noidea: (it's a man's prerogative :heehee:) and what was going to be cream of courgette and tomato soup is now spicy lentil soup. The lightly spiced and marinated chicken for roasting has changed to be roasted with butter, garlic and herbs stuffed underneath the skin.

The smell is spreading nicely around the house.

Living as I do in a country I was not born in, I find that the best thing to do is embrace the new culture, whilst keeping hold of my original one. Due to that, Christmas is a double occasion here. Sweden celebrates it on Christmas Eve, and as most know, the UK celebrates it on Christmas Day.

So, yesterday that was the traditional Swedish Christmas. In our case, thats a three course meal. The first of those comprises of different kinds of pickled herring, gravadlax, boiled eggs, and black(dark brwn really!) bread. All washed down with Christmas beer, and the ubiquitous schnapps. Normally, that would be my own, but this year I forgot to make it. The second course was baked ham, meatballs (of course!) "prince sausages" (thats a direct translation, as I'm not sure what they are called in English) brown cabbage and boiled potatoes. Course number three was Rice à la Malta with tea, rather than the traditional coffee.

Todays food will be the traditional British one. Turkey with all the trimmings, and wine to wash it down, followed by syllabub. With luck, all that will be eaten before the Queen makes her traditional speech. Anarchist that I am, the toast will not be brandy, but an Irish Pot Still Whiskey.

Finished the turkey dinner by 11.30 have the Christmas pudding sometime this afternoon, used to have it straight after the dinner but it's too much for us now.
When cooking the dinner had 2 glasses of babycham and a glass of New Zealand sparkling wine with the dinner.

Nothing fancy as it’s only the two of us. Roasted the beef yesterday, with carrots and onion, with water added to make up the gravy with. Picked some sprouts and dug up a parsnip this morning. King Edward spuds for roasting and onion rings.

Had a lovely christmas dinner...id prepped most in advance so was easy to put together.

prawn and avocado for starers, did a traditional turkey dinner but we opted for a reduced size and had a turkey joint....got to say it was the best turkey I've ever had!
No sprouts as we don't like them ha!

Christmas pud and brandy cream for afters and some after dinner mints.

Is someone waiting patiently for a taster?

Just had a long video chat with no2 son and his girlfriend their dinner is just about ready to serve....now! Personally I couldn't eat that late.
